Paramount Pictures has given the go-ahead for a fourth installment of its “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise, with Eddie Murphy on board to return to the role that launched his movie career, the studio said on Thursday.

Brett Ratner, the filmmaker behind the similarly themed ”Rush Hour” movies starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, is in negotiations to direct the latest “Beverly Hills Cop” adventure, a Paramount spokesman said.

Maybe they meant to say "the role that killed his movie career". Because if you check his IMDB, everything he's been in after Beverly Hills Cop III (with the exception of the Shrek movies, where he's a talking donkey) has been complete dogshit.

When I heard this on the news, they said "Murphy has said he's willing to do it." Then they went on to say that it wasn't the studio's idea. He talked them into it. Willing to do it, huh? Sounds more like begging to do it, to me.
