At my company they had an Asian food festival today where you could sample foods from all parts of Asia, and they had these tables set up from different countries and you can try their various food.
I preferred the Chinese type food, and not being too familiar with Indian food, I did not know what to try. But I wanted to try Indian food because some people where I work rave about it.
The only problem is that I do not like food that is too spicy because it usually tears me up inside.
I sampled a piece of chicken from the Indian table that was so freaking spicy and hot I almost gagged.
Do you like spicy food?
There was this guy I work with who loves spicy food but he says he pays for it the next day. I never really got that, because I never want to have problems with my stomach or ass and if I know that food will cause that, I really avoid it.
Are there foods you like to eat that you know will tear you up, but you eat anyway?

I love spicy food. It never really bothers my cast iron gullet.

I love spicy food too...and Indian food rocks, but there are a lot of curries that are not crazy hot, they just have a ton of flavor. The best thing to do is to go to an Indian place with someone who is familiar with the food...oh and someone who you trust who won't be a complete bastard and lie about it being mild!

I consistently enjoy spicy food. Sometimes, it's the hotter, the better. (New Mexican-style versus Sonoran style for Southwest cuisine, for example. Or Hunan or Szechuan style food from the Chinese place...even if that's not "authentic." Oh, and wasabi on a spicy tuna roll....yummy!)
At my best, I was able to tolerate an Indian medium-spiced food and still enjoy my meal.
I had a Thai-spiced dish last weekend and picked out the sliced chiles, but there was quite enough heat in it to clear my sinuses. And I still enjoyed it ... if I have it again, I might want to try my hand at reverse-engineering it to get the base flavors before I adjust the heat.
I have been known to eat canned chipotle chiles in adobo sauce straight from the can; this freaked out my husband the first time I did it. I use them in cooking whenever I can get away with it ... I think that they're milder than the jalapenos they used to be and they bring a lot of rich, smoky goodness to the party. (I used them in a black bean and corn salad I made by reverse-engineering a similar Starbucks salad because I didn't have the equipment required to roast the corn, but I still wanted a smoky flavor. Chipotles made the most sense.)
I haven't avoided spicy food for tummy-trouble reasons, but I have avoided milk for tummy-trouble reasons. (I still go through phases where milk is not OK, but they are few and far between recently.)

My wife's enjoyment of spicy food has also broadened my horizons too, although I still don't understand the concept of wanting REALLY spicy food. My issue so much isn't that I'm a wuss, it's just that I can't tell the flavor differentation that's supposed to come with super spicy food. My mouth just translates it as "hot hot hot" and to me, that's not an enjoyable experience.
My wife thought it was amusing to pick a New Mexican style restaurant on a trip to Arizona. Hilarity most certainly did not ensue.

My favorite food is Korean and it is spicy as hell. It's a different kind of burn, though; it's a different spicy to Indian, Thai, or Sichuan. For some reason I can handle that red pepper Korean spicy hotness better than the others.
My favorite place for Korean food in Manhattan is Dok Suni. I always take visiting friends and family there. Even my least adventuresome, most conservative meat and potatoes friends and family like it. It's pretty cheap too.

You're lucky that they had milk there and I knew enough to ask for it.

I love spicy foods. Red pepper and garlic are my 1st ingerdients. The ass problem comes from the 10 Budweisers I drink after.

I never ate anything spicy because my food was always bland growing up, and my wife didn't like spicy because her brothers would always get wicked spicy buffalo wings and that's what she thought all spicy food tasted like.
Then she tried real, good, spicy food, and now its all she makes. And its awesome. I think everything she cooks she add a habenero pepper to.

I heart spicy food. I have always loved it since i was a little kid. with my ethnic background being aztec/mexican and such i had it forever. But the thing is just recently 8 months or so I cannot handle jalepeno slices with the seeds. They will tear me up going out. you know. but chopped and such i can do like a nice Pico de Gallo and other dishes. but you guys should check this site out.

i have bought the 2AM reserve a while back and HOLY SHIT the is hot:furious:
i used a tooth pick drop in about 4 spoonfuls of baked beans and it was equally compared to i would say ~12 shakes of tabasco.:furious:
Nope. Don't care for it. Food should taste good, not cause pain.

i just like sweet/tangy hot...
I like food with a nice little "kick" to it but when it causes my eyes to sweat it's gone too far.

I can't/won't anything too spicy because I don't see the point of the "burn". I went to the website www.extremefood.com and can't really see a reason to buy something that is reported to be that hot. A few years ago a student of mine had his stomach pumped because someone dared him to drink a bottle of hot sauce (don't know which one). I remember thinking he came to class high and called the Principal telling him that "Dougie" is sitting in class high. TUrned out too be hot sauce.
