Now that i've put my entire cd library on my computer, I listen to music through itunes. And i usually have it on shuffle. The result is that while i waste time away on my computer i get an even mix of music.
So the other day, randomly 5 songs came up from the same album (Secret Samadhi from Live). What occurred to me was that I haven't listen to a whole album end to end in probably 6 or 7 years. and that actually upset me a bit. I felt that i had deprived myself of a positive experience for several years. So now I'm setting up playlists arranged by album, all the ones i've gotten since 2000, trying to get back into that habit.

The majority of my listening is on random. If its a new album, I'll usually listen to it all the way through. But my attention doesn't last long enough to make it through a full album anymore. I need to switch it up.

And in the off chance that I listen to an album, I'll listen to that on random a lot, too.

I pretty much only listen to albums eventhough I've loaded all my CD's into iTunes. I rarely use shuffle.

Only certain albums, like "Dark Side of the Moon." The rest of the time, it's on shuffle. In fact, I've loaded very few whole albums onto my IPhone.

I agree totally. Some albums are just better to listen to straight-through. If it is an artist that actually puts effort into their cd's, then the album will flow in a certain way.

But most of the time, if I am listening to other I have it on shuffle.

I go through trends with my music listening.

Some times I have it on shuffle of my top rated music.

Then I get tired of that, and I listen to certain playlists.

then I get tired fo that, and then I listen to albums.

Right now, I'm listening to my purchased playlist in order of purchase, and since I have purchased a number of albums, I'm listening ot whole albums. In the last two days, I've listened to albums by the Rolling Stones, The Band, Prince, and The Replacements.

Ugh, I have so many different methods.

At home, I generally listen to full albums on my home stereo. Ipod #1 is connected to my alarm clock, and it's on shuffle for a half hour while I go to sleep and another half hour or so to wake me up.

Ipod #2 is my "new release" player (60 gig) that I carry with me to the coffee shop or supermarket or wherever. I usually just put on a smart playlist of things added in the last month on shuffle when I'm drinking coffee and reading, but I have a number of different playlists to choose from. Recently, I've been mainly listening to a playlist of all of the bonus tracks from the Replacements reissues.

Ipod #3 is my catalog player (160 gig, about 90 gig filled) that's for the most part my driving music. 99% of the time it's just on shuffle, but every now and then I'll put an individual artist on shuffle.
