Why am I So behind on video games?

My brother had everything when it came out but he's 8 years older than me and never shared...


So the only I ever had was a playstation(1).

I borrowed a super nintendo into order to play Chrono Trigger (my favorite game of all time!!) and on playstation I had tony hawk and a couple of final fantasy games.

Up until I met Chris I never played anything except the playstation.

Now that he has newer things, I find myself trying to catch up with everything I missed.

I started playing Mario Kart and Mario Party. I also still absolutely love Chrono Trigger.

I wish I had gotten into these games earlier...

Also, because I had gotten used to playstation I couldn't stand nintendo 64 or dreamcast. The way you played was different...

Yea, my brother was into all the old school stuff.

I however had to save up money and get a used playstation around 2000. It was the first system I ever had and played a whole game on.

(My brother would occasionally let me play 5 minutes at most of a game)

Oh and if you're wondering why he got to play with it and I didn't. He bought it himself. So my parents couldn't just tell him to let me into his room when he's not there and play his games (although I snuck in before he got a lock and played parrapa the rappa a few times)

Gotta agree. 64 got me through a stint of house arrest. Without Conkers Bad Fur Day and Super Smash Bros, I would not have made it.

I've always had at least one current-gen system, right now it's the 360. It'll probably be a few more years until I go with another.

What a weird place to find it.
From what I've read, Atari had Pong, but there was some sort of technical issue that slowed down the introduction of it to the market. Coleeco came up with this one while Atari was down. Since Coleeco's version was so much in demand, any kind of store that could get it would sell it. I remember going there with my parents to get it. There were balloons everywhere, and they were giving out free 8oz bottles of Coke to everyone.

I didn't know that's why we went there. It was a Christmas present, so my parents were keeping it a secret. They told me we were going there for the free Coke. Now I'm starting to understand how I got into so much trouble with cocaine.:ohmy:

I had the NES as a kid and then got the SNES.

The Super Nintendo had the best all around games by far. There's still games that I'm trying out for it through the emulator on my computer (I still have the actual system and a bunch of games, but it's not exactly like you can walk into a store and buy cartridges anymore).

My cousins ran the gambit of video game systems after that, but I pretty much stuck with the SNES until I got the original Xbox a few years back. Now, I have the Wii.


And I agree 100% with Leticia...Chrono Trigger owns. Hands down one of the best games ever. The sequel, Chrono Cross, for the original Playstation, I think is actually a little bit better, though.

Genesis did get the most use since it came out right as I started college, plus the awesomeness that was Madden '92 and NHL '92.

Super Nintendo (cool kids called it SNES) was and remains the greatest system ever made. It had the best graphics of its time, the widest range of games, the larger library, better controls, and every year it rolled in at least 7 games that were must-haves.

Chrono Trigger was fantastic, but I have to admit I loved Secret of Mana and FF3 way more than CT. Super Metroid, Mario Kart, Mario World, Zelda 3, Final Fight, Killer Instinct, MegaMan X series, BoF, F-Zero, FF IV+VI (2+3 in U.S.), CT, Out of this World (I didn't have those fancy computer boxes back then), Yoshi's Island, Actraiser, Sims, All-Stars, etc etc & etc. That's just the short list of games exclusive to SNES.

All the big name games that were X-console were superior in their SNES incarnations over the Sega versions every time. Mortal Kombat II, Street Fighter, so on.

Maybe the halcyon days of youth paint a rosier picture than reality. But c'mon... how many Xbox and PS3 games are there worth buying for the prices they're asking? 5 in two years per console?
