View Full Version : Swayze and Kennedy: A Tale of Two Cancers

Patrick Swayze stands proud on the doorstep of death and awaits his final hour. His diagnosis of terminal cancer has afforded him only a few weeks left to live. Ted Kennedy on the other hand; squats beleaguered on the doorstep of death and can look back and offer ZERO positives of his awful existence. He's just been awful and I believe Patrick Swayze, who also has been diagnosed with a terminal cancer will not only live longer; but has actually contributed more to the fabric of our society. So my question to you is simple - Who will live longer and who has contributed more to America?

There's a lot of people that would argue that Ted Kennedy contributed a lot while he was a senator. Especially on the civil right front. And the drowning girls part.
I'm just upset about the lack of PIMC.

Ex-Klansmen and open minded Democrat, Robert Byrd could hardly contain himself on the floor of the Senate today. I MUST remind the readers of this, that both Byrd and Kennedy vote on national issues like wars, appropriation of millions of dollars, etc...
I say it again, we are on borrowed time and can't imagine we have made it as far as we have. Who are these people?
Enjoy...

Pin, I'm glad we finally agree on something.
I find their lives quite similar...one put Baby in a corner...the other drowned Baby in Chappaquiddick.

did anyone notice that the pages byrd was reading from had a very small amount of words on it....they must have written it in 120font for him....
Byrd is not a self respecting man, although I feel for him, he probably was reminded about his own mortality by Kennedy's situation.

This somehow makes even less than absolutely no sense.
although I feel for him
Shocker.

That and the fact that he's 90 years old.

Patrick Swayze has contributed far less than Ted Kennedy. It is not even worth the time to respond but I find it so lucirous that I had to.
Ted Kennedy has been a Senator for 46 years!!!! He was in office during some of the most critical political and civil moments in our nations history. Segregation, Vietnam, Civil Rights, Cold War, Iraq War, War on terror, He has been a champion for civil rights, health care and education.
Ted has been one of the most visible and powerful politicians of the past century.
Swayze has made a few shitty movies. his greatest claims to fame are "Ghost" and "Road House"? Oh, let's not forget that classic ballad "She's like the wind".
Don't get me wrong, I don't think Swayze is a bad person or a person that has little human value. Just TeeBone's statement is definitely the most stupid thing I have ever read on this message board.
Where are there any facts that warrant even the slightest comparison of the two.

Patrick Swayze saved us from the Soviets
And Jaspar, Missouri from Brad Wesley.
Kennedy left a woman to drown in a submerged car. Swayze ripped a man's throat out with his bare hands.
Advantage Swayze.

oh and regardless of your politics, you're a fucking retard if u think an actor has contributed anything of significance that squashes the contributions of even a short-dick backwater lunatic politician.
except when we're talking 'bout patrick.

Don't forget his love affair with the awful Sandinistas, his coddling of Castro and being the only Irish Catholic in the history of the United States Senate in favor of abortion. Let us also not forget how this monster picks apart our tax code while his non-earned pile of cash is safe in the family trust. Ever heard of Capital gains legislation and the fact that we pay through the nose---thanks Ted.

Best I can figger, Teddy really only showed the country that a ton of money and the right last name can get you out of killin a bitch and keep you in congress for your WHOLE FUCKING LIFE. Swayze brought us Road House and Dirty Dancing not to mention one of the best skits in SNL history. Ghost was a piece of shit but Road House? Come on.

I've said it before, Road House has the best closing line of any movie ever...PERIOD!!!
"A polar bear fell on me."
Kennedy lives...and votes! (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/09/kennedy-returns-to-the-senate/)
Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts walked triumphantly into the Senate on Wednesday for the first time since learning that he had brain cancer, hoping to provide Democrats with the crucial, single vote that they need to reverse a cut in Medicare reimbursements to doctors.

I still say Swayze contributed far more to society than Teddy ever did. And he's still tickin'
R.I.P., Teddy -
We'll miss the:
Cheating on exams at Harvard that resulted in your being thrown out...
Killing a woman in your car and swimming away to safety only to alert authorities 9 hours later...
Funneling countless thousands to the IRA...
Cuddling up to the Sandanistas...
The cocaine habits...
The adultery...
The drinking habits (did I mention killing MJ at Chappy yet?)...
The vast an expansive ethics complaints...
The constant lying to cover yourself only after you got caught (well I guess that is the KENNEDY way of doing things)...
Oh Teddy, we will indeed miss you.:drunk:
And certain people in this country wonder why regular people fucking hate politics and don't bother to vote.
Shitting on the dead doesn't help the process.

You may not have liked the voting record of Senator Kennedy, but he was duly elected by the people of Massachusetts. And despite his warts (which cannot be denied), that was their decision.
Shitting on the man the very day he is buried, only shows us what a petty and small man you truly are.

I think you cant help but feel mixed feelings about the guy. He had the world by the balls, could have been president and blew it. He was a great Senator and servant and an ideological icon. But he did also KILL somebody. I guess that is between him and God and that girl's family, but I dont know how I feel about the guy.

All I have been hearing about on CNN, MSNBC and even FOX is that, "...we are all flawed." That is true, but what you aren't being told is that Ted's life was not flawed, it was a series of flaws that lasted his entire life. He never, '...saw the errors of his ways' or, '...became a new man when he remarried.' He was a corrupt asshole who dripped unsupervised and unaccounted privilege, opulence, excess, murder, lies and international intrigue. My God, his life sounds like the a spy novel.
I am sorry if the truth hurts you, Emo. :glurps:

In all seriousness, Swayze was a good guy and although his films were not particularly good, the were memorable and he will be missed.
