Don't trip over yourself Shyamalan haters. I'm a fan of his movies, well... Lady In The Water was a bit too pretentious wasn't it? I'll give you that.

But this movie looks nice and creepy.

My favorite part of this preview... the lawn mower man! Ouch!

I love end of the world stuff, I might forgive The Village if this is any good. And that water thing in Signs.

Looks like "War Of The Worlds."

I'll catch it on HBO next year on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Never saw Lady in the Water but i really liked The Village and Signs.

That could also just be attributed to the actors and the scores.

that preview made me want to see this movie - haven't said that about one of his films in a long time.

Im torn because Mark Wahlberg has been in some good stuff recently but John Leguizamo was in the Super Mario Brothers movie amongst other things that are just atrocious.

OH! So faced. I thought Leguizamo in Spawn was pretty brilliant. And he played a great scumball in Summer of Sam.

It obvious what the answer is...Marky Mark needs to SWING AWAY!

Honestly, though, this reminds me of the episode of Futurama where the giant brains invade and make everyone on Earth retarded, except Fry.

I saw a spoiler about the "twist" in this movie.

I will not reveal it. I'll just say that it makes the "twist" in The Village seem like the height of cinematic art. It's that stupid.

For those that don't know and won't look it up, what's you prediction on what the Happening actually is?

I'm gonna go with something stupid like sound waves.

I saw the spoiler also and couldn't agree more.

Now I'm even going to skip this movie when it's on HBO.

M. Night Shyamalan is a hack.

Dear god....I didn't think there could be a worst "twist" than the one in The Village. Somebody put M. Night out of his misery.

Here ya go (http://www.filmbuffonline.com/ReadingRoom/TheHappening.htm)(SPOILERPALOOZA)

I refused to believe it was true but when you see the original working title - I guess it has to be true.

The movie already looked horrible to me, then I read the spoilers and it was confirmed.

M. Night is responsible for one of my favorite movies of all time - Unbreakable - but he peaked with that.

I read spoilers on this movie the other day and they conflict with that link.

What I read is : There's no twist. It's a pretty straight forward "thriller", but its really gruesome and bloody.

I've gone on this rant before but, here goes:

I get kinda tired of EVERYTHING in movies (and TV shows) being a "twist". Can't we just call it "the plot"?
I hear about these twists on Survivor and Big Brother... "and now for the twist... we're gonna break you people into two groups; the men against the women!!". How is that a twist?

I know nothing aboot THE HAPPENING becuse I like to go into a movie totally open but... is there supposed to be a twist??
Yeah, The Sixth Sense had that shocker-ending (which doesn't hold up!) but, okay... that's that plot. That's the point of the movie. The engine.

The Others. Not a twist. Just an ending. Right? etc etc.

Another pet peeve: I'm tired of all these game shows being referred to as reality shows. The Osbournes was a reality show. Survivor is a game show. LA INK is a reality show. American Idol is a game show.
Stop calling 'em something they're not, people! I hate that.

And another thing! Stop saying "ATM machine" and "PIN number".
And stop saying "we improv'd that whole scene". You improvised it.

Am I splittin' hairs here? I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!.

Worst twist ever. Booooooooo.
People paying to see garbage like this is why we only get a few good movies each year.

There is no twist in this movie. The liberal use of the word twist in describing his movies is as wrong as it is ridiculous.

That being said, this movie was just a feature length X-Files episode.

Zooey Deschanel was the best part of the movie. Wahlberg, who can be a good and effective actor, just doesn't swing it here. Many of his lines came off as unintentionally funny.

The science behind the attack is explained, so there no guessing as to why people are killing themselves, and those parts are the more interesting of the movie. (Lawn mower man!)

But overall it's a mediocre thriller but not worth the price of a ticket.

i watched this movie on "ondemand" today after the discussion on the show about it being the worst movie ever made

Its not as bad as "Lady in the Water" because both movies are so stupid but watchable

both "Happening" and "Lady in the Water" are a million times better than "The Village" which was so boring that I think thats the M. Night movie to make the argument of "worst movie of all time"

Anyway, with "The Happening" its just a total premise..M.Night was probably watching a dumb nature show and thought "whoa what if plants did that to humans". The movie really never rises above the premise to be an actual film

And as for Mark Wahlberg's acting in this movie...i really have seen better acting in porno films. I couldn't imagine a regular guy off the street with no acting experience doing any worse job of acting than Mark Wahlberg did in this movie. I have no idea what he was going for
