The cafeteria where I work has this as a special today. Is it good for you or is it bad?

Its considered to be healthy if the only other option is starvation.

Is it actually good? I've never been able to get past the smell or the look of it to give it an honest chance.
My grandfather used to eat it out of the can. I'm gagging again thinking about it.

Oh, it's spare parts of meat and potato heaven is all. The standing order for a young, drunken Ritalin at 3 am at the Webster Diner on the corner of Webster and Clark.

I've always lived with the philosophy that no properly prepared food is bad for you, as long as it's eaten in moderation.
I just haven't figured out how to do the moderation part yet, which may determine how long I actually live with that philosophy.

Extremely fatty... which is probably what makes it taste so good. Also the loads of salt.
I eat it once a year, St. Patrick's Day of course. I made a corned beef and cabbage panini for my family this year and it was very well recieved.

I had it once and it was mushy. Never again.
Pork roll. That's a MAN's breakfast.

That right there is the greatest meal ever created. Angels dance in place when it is consumed.

My mother takes the S.O.S. concept, replaces the beef with chicken, and adds peas, carrots and sometimes lima beans. She calls it creamed chicken. Fantastic tasting.
What's interesting is that you are from Pittsburgh, and my mother is from Pittsburgh. Maybe it is a Pittsburgh thing to mix random things with cream.

My mom always did that too. Except she replaced the chicken with ham, removed the peas, carrots, and lima beans. She'd add cheese and mushrooms and put it all inside eggs. She called it an omlette.

As long as this is a health question thread can anyone tell me if having unprotected anal sex with a syphilitic, transexual, intravenous drug addicted, Hatian prostitute with a runny nose is healthy? It's the "special" at my work today and I'm not sure if I should try it.

Is that what that's called? I think my mother used to make this for me also. It wasn't my favorite, but it was quick and easy for my mom.

My grandmother grew up in Shamokin, PA... we always had ties to that part of PA and it influenced my mother's cooking a lot...
How about fried balogna with ketchup? It's my mom's favorite because her mom always used to make it for her.

My mother and her family are from Braddock, PA. Keilbasa and eggs, shit on a shingle (cream chipped beef), etc.
Western PA cooking is normally really bad for you, but tastes fantastic.
Burger + Mayo + Cheese + Bacon + Peanut Butter = Very very interesting food from Pittsburgh

Get a can of the dog food style hash. Fridge it for a while. Open both ends of the can and push the goodness out. Slice it into 1/2 inch discs. Fry em up crispy, lay an over easy egg on top and enjoy.

Discovering S.O.S. was the one highlight of my brief stint in the Navy. I lived off that stuff and managed to drop 20 pounds in a month. I had it again a month ago... just as delish as I remember it being.
I haven't had CBH in ages. It was OK, but not something I crave.

Eggs mulligan is even better. English muffins with corned beef hash spread on them, topped with poached eggs, with hollandaise. I used to freaking LOVE eating this on Sunday mornings. That was, um, pre Weight Watchers.

I just ate a can of Corned Beer Hash for lunch on Sunday.
I use a fork to break it up out of the can and I create an even covering all over the skillet. I crisp one side in like 5 minutes and then do my best to flip every section to crisp the other side.
Then I add 2 eggs I've scrambled in the can the hash came in and mix it all up. At that point I bring the mix back to an even covering and cook until the egg is done.
I prefer to eat it with pita bread but I had none this weekend so just utensils.
