How do you get coordination?
Is it a skill?
Are some people genetically disposed to be very coordinated? 'Cause I'm not and Id like to be more coordinated.
Are there exercises I could do?

Walking at times is a skill yet to be mastered. I have horrible coordination. Don't ya hate when you have really clumsy days and you drop the same piece of paper 5 times in a row or walk into the same wall or edge of the table 4 times in the same day....straight up whacked.

BTW, the word "coordination" is a really cool word. Say it... co-or-di-na-tion, hehe

i think it's both. some
people have natural ability.
but people can be taught.
it's like learning to catch
a ball. at first i couldn't. but i
practiced with my dad often
enough that i learned some
hand-eye coordination.
it's like muscle memory.

I always find myself walking down a hall and get thrown off balance and into the wall. This happens almost every day. So either I have bad coordination, or I have some serious problem with my brain (physically).

Don't ya mean (mentally) Tazzie? I think if you talk to yourself and converse, the other half of your brain won't be so deprived of conversation. It'll balance out the voices in your head. ;)

I already know that there is a mental problem. I think there may be a physical problem too. But I'm pretty nervous about walking up to my doctor and asking for a Cat Scan on my head.

i have absolutely no coordination, especially when it comes to walking. I fall down stairs, i trip going upstairs, i even trip walking on a flat surface. i dont seem to be outgrowing it or anything. my mom calls me grace because i fall so much. i'm going to end up breaking a hip or something when i'm an old bag.

GWEN - Like most things it's a combination of nature and nurture.

Children are borns with certain inherent abilities. The development of these abilities is dependant upon many factors, particularly in this instance the physical environment.

Kids learn to control the large muscle groups by running, jumping, playing catch, etc.

Development of fine motor skills is more difficult and people have wide ranges of ability in this area. Everyone masters it - just to different extent.

A girl I knew was bringing me and my friends our lunch cause she was nice enough to buy it for us... and she just walked directly into a brick wall... that was funny... I guess that's what we're talking about.

Coordination has always been an issue for me and I probably speak for a lot of tall guys.

When I first had my major growth spurt (8 inches taller over 8 months) I gained a new center of gravity for my body which I was not at all used to.

I was falling all over the place. 20 years later, I'm still getting used to it.
