Yesterday, I threw down $102.35 (including Ticketmaster's blood-sucking service fees) for a single ticket to see Tom Waits. It's BY FAR the most I've ever paid for a show. After I slid my credit card back into my wallet, I began to question my sanity.

Pajeebus....I took my my wife to Nick Cave at the Warfield in 2003 and paid like 60 buck for the both of us. I haven't been to a show since. I used to go to concerts all the time, but tickets were never like this. I think I paid like 40 bucks for tickets to Lollapalooza '93. And my dumbass didn't even realize that Tool was on the second stage while I was fermenting in the sun to Babes in Toyland.

im sure he means for a single ticket
but if we talk like in what it should be worth and how much you paid then 10 dollars would of been too much to see jet

I don't think he tours very often, and this is certainly the first he's played my rednecky home state since I've known who he is. This is also a fairly small tour... only about a dozen dates or so. Those who have seen him tell me I won't be disappointed.

I'm trying to think, but I'm honestly not sure I've ever overpaid for a concert.

I did think the $200 a ticket for the V Festival last year was a bit pricey, but actually, I did get two days and quite a few good bands.

$102 for Tom Waits?? Jaheeezeeus Christ!! You will find that it was worth every fucking penny. I saw him in 2006 and it was beyond expectations. I won't be able to see him on this tour and its pretty amazing that he is even touring after going out in '06. If you're any kind of Waits' fan you won't be dissapointed, trust me. Damn, I'm jealous!!

Face value was $87 for Prince in 2004. No service charge because my friend got them through NPG Music Club.

I paid $90 ($80 + $10 fee) total to see Bjork at Radio City Music Hall in 2001.

I also picked up tickets to the Waits show in Ohio. Well, actually my buddy did the leg work. I thought they were $80 per, but that must be before the service charge. That's probably the most I've paid. Regardless the price will be well worth it.

Paid 300 to see Springsteen at the Stone Pony at Christmas 7 years ago..2/3rds went to the Firemen victims of 911's families..well worth it imo..Then he started nailing that hussey that was a "girlfriend" of a married fireman that was seeking almost 2 million of it.

For a 37 year old, my wife is one of the biggest Simon & Garfunkle fans around. She...and I stress she...somewhere around 3 bills each for two on the third row in their reunion tour a few ago. It was one hell of a show. That being said I saw U2 and Pearl Jam in Honolulu; the tickets to the show were'nt too crazy but the logistics were a bitch. 5k for two after all was said and done.

I paid $200 for two LAWN tickets to see The Police and Elvis Costello at the PNC Arts Center via stubmenu.com. I *thought* I was buying directly from the Arts Center so I was expecting much better seats.

Fuck it-- it's The Police. I need to be in the vicinity of Stewart Copeland ONCE in my life.

I did that once and I got tossed mid-concert. I can't even remember who it was for. The Alarm? Big Country? I got more than I bargained for whatever concert it was.

I'll stick with my overpriced tix... and the fact I might have to buy rain ponchos.

I don't know how tough a ticket that will be, but if it sells out really fast try searching for only 1 ticket on the website. You might be surprised how good a seat you might get if you're willing to get a single. Or you can do 1 seat twice and go with a friend, you just won't be sitting together. I did that with Van Halen tix for me and my brother, and a bunch of times for Yankee playoff games. It usually works for events that are impossible to get seats for. Sucks, but at least you're in the building.

Christ Almighty, that is a ridiculous price tag for what basically amounts to a tribute band. I was actually half considering going to the Atlanta show, but if tickets are that much, I think I'll pass. It's neat and all that Dweezil's playing with them, but it isn't worth $100.

I want to got to Rock The Bells this year. They have a VIP ticket that includes backstage meet and greets t-shirt, poster, VIP party and 2 drink vouchers for $200. I don't know if I should got for it or not.
Featuring performances by A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Mos Def, De La Soul, Rakim, Method Man & Redman, Raekwon & Ghostface (Cuban Linx), Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Murs and Kidz In The Hall, the ROCK THE BELLS 2008 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL SERIES POWERED BY SANDISK once again is marked by the leading hip-hop line-up seen on one bill this year. This year will be highlighted with an unexpected reunion of The Pharcyde. But it does not stop there, as fans will also see performances by the brightest names in the emerging electro-hip hop scene including Spank Rock, Santogold, Kid Sister, Wale, Flosstradamus, Jay Electronica and The Cool Kids with hosts B-Real of Cypress Hill and the world renowned Supernatural.

Is it a small venue? I would hope so for that price. I saw him in 1987 at the Eugene O'Neill Theater on Broadway. That was probably the most I've ever paid for a ticket ($35) if you adjust for inflation! :glurps:

I recently did some research for work about concert ticket sales. This year the industry expects concert ticket sales and album sales to be their closest in monetary value ever in history. Album sales are way down, but concert ticket sales are way up - because of the increased ticket prices. It doesn't help when scalpers can buy up all the tickets before us regular folk get a chance, as anyone in New York will tell you.

I think I paid over $100 to see the Stones at MSG in 2000 or 2001. Well worth it. Just this summer I've paid almost $100 each to see Pearl Jam and Wilco. Now that's getting ridiculous. I use to go to concerts all the time but have seriously cut back just because of the prices getting insane.

The Waits tour has gone to paperless tickets to help cut down on overpriced scalping. Instead of a tangible ticket, you present the credit card used to purchase at the door.

My independantly wealthy friend spent $1,500 for two front row center tickets to Dave Matthews. The 6 Front row center tickets are auctioned off in three pairs for every show, and the proceeds go to charity, so she wrote it off, but still ... $1,500 ... it was a great show though.
