BTW, the other female lead doesn't look that good.

I'd say there is a 70/30 chance they will. They just canceled 8 shows - all of them premiered last fall.

Broadcast networks have the itchiest trigger fingers around. It would have a much, much better chance on cable.

The trailer looked interesting and worth checking out.

However, the name Dollhouse? I'm sorry but that's a terrible name.

It may make more sense than the sentence you just typed, but I just don't like the name "Dollhouse". It's just a little girlish.

But I'm sure that feeling will fade if I like what I'm watching.

I think Dollhouse fits the show. The agents are dolls who are programmed for missions and when they get back have their minds wiped.

The script got a good review on AICN this week. I'm looking forward to it.

Has anyone been following the story for this? It's a nightmare. It's finally green lit but FOX is giving it (surprise!) little support and a bad time spot.

Joss.... stay away from FOX!

Fox Execs Explain Why Joss Whedon's Dollhouse Is Built On Sand (http://io9.com/5118553/fox-execs-explain-why-joss-whedons-dollhouse-is-built-on-sand)

They've finally come out and admitted it — the top suits at the Fox network just plain hate science fiction. And yet they keep greenlighting it.

An interview with Fox Chairman Peter Ligouri and President Kevin Reilly was more revealing than they may have intended. They talk, in general, about the network's ratings struggles. And then there's this exchange:

Q: Many people were surprised that you didn't put Whedon's "Dollhouse" in one of the post-"Idol" spots, instead opting for the relatively sleepy zone of Fridays. Why put such a buzzed-about show on that night?

Liguori: It's a night where there's not . . . a lot of competition. So we're able . . . to allow the show to grow.

Reilly: By nature, this show has a particular kind of audience. That's just what Joss does. You could say, why "Lie to Me" (on Wednesdays) after "Idol"? I think that's a broader show. You don't want to put in something with more of a sci-fi bent.

The good news is, they intend to "allow [Dollhouse] to grow," meaning that it won't get axed if its ratings aren't stellar right out of the gate. (But a second-season pickup may be a challenge.) But the bad news is, they're coming out and saying it: they don't think "something with more of a sci-fi bent" can win over a big audience. Especially not if it's "what Joss does."

Meanwhile, Lie To Me, which sounds like a clone of the vapid but ultra-successful Mentalist, is destined for greatness. Sigh.

I know I am not the only Joss Whedon fan here, so is anyone else excited about the premiere of Dollhouse, this Friday night at 9PM on Fox?

From reading a little of the previews and the such, I just hope Fox gives the show a chance to grow, and it is not a repeat of Firefly.

I think it being on Friday night might actually help, at least in terms of lowered expectations.

I saw Olivia Williams on Fergonson's show last night, and have always been a fan of her, so with her, Amy Acker, and Eliza it's a good start.

I caught Olivia Williams on Craig Fergonson's show last night, I have always enjoyed her, and to the person who asked if she was the Rushmore gal, yes she is.

I am excited for the premiere, although I am prepared that it will be a one year and done show, but hopeful that given the Friday night slot, possibly it can build a little niche audience, and get more than just this season.

i guess they feel like they have to do the whole hero-villan thing or whatever

but why introduce this so early ??

but they coulda done a season or 2 of just them being programmed and going on missions

i dunno maybe its just a pet peeve of mine but i hate when they introduce aspects of the plot where completion means the end of the show or movie

b/c if they solve it, catch the guy, whatever it is then show or movie is over

I saw the unaired ep of Dollhouse the other day. I love where they took the idea underlying the Dollhouse technology and essentially turned into it into a way to destroy society and humanity. Great ep.

Also so far, I've like this season, but the show has had horrible ratings. However, Fox has committed to air all 13 episodes that have been filmed and will air such eps back to back on Friday nights in December.

It has become some of the finest stuff he has ever done the past 6 episodes. If only he went full bore from the beginning, who knows maybe it could have found an audience, although with the time slot and lack of promotion, it was still doubtful.
