I just saw an opossum "play opossum"!

My dog Buddy was just outside on his chain, enjoying his late night yard patrol. I heard him barking, so I went out to bring him inside (don't want the neighbors getting angry). When I got out there, I saw him standing over a "dead" baby opossum. Oh, crap. Now I have to deal with this!

I brought Buddy into the house, then went outside with a plastic bag, to remove the "dead" opossum. Sure enough... the little critter was walking away from the scene of the murder. I could have sworn that sucker was dead!

I'm not too fond of them, either. But I really don't want Buddy killing things out there. To be honest, even though he spent the first 7 months of his life in a situation where he could kill as he wished, he's very different now. He acts like he wants to kill every critter in sight, but he doesn't know what to do when he gets the chance. Last summer, he got a baby rabbit IN HIS MOUTH, and he just dropped it. It's almost like he has the urge to kill, but doesn't really want to go through with it.

I had a limo gig yesterday morning at 4am...had to pick up in Old Tappan,NJ (just south of the NY state line).

I wish deer would play dead. I must have had 3 jump right in front of the car.

It's all residential here in Bergen county so there's no hunters to thin out the population, and I was in one of the shrinking heavily wooded areas.

They scared the crap outta me!

Don't EVEN bitch about deer to me. I sometimes see 20 or 30 deer in a field when I'm driving. They don't even try to run out of the way, anymore. Where I live, what was once totally rural woodlands, has been becoming total McMansion sprawl. The deer have nowhere to go, and the hunters can't shoot them.

Animals aren't afraid anymore...Deer stand in the road, we have black bears going through garbage in NW jersey, Gators in pools, Snakes in toilets..etc.

I went to visit a friend in Warwick, Ny a few months ago and I had to stop on a road to let turkeys cross! Turkeys used to jet as soon as they heard you! Thread worthy?:surrender:

I just turned 37 a week ago. (I'm old) No but really I've never seen wild turkeys just chilling out and walking across the street.
