Except we (the staff) all discussed it and decided it was better to have more threads pertaining to specific topics brought up on the show to encourage discussion from people who avoid the show threads. Sheepy just happens to be the one starting them right now. Anyone can and should start them.

Well, no. we have been encouraging people to bring up topics discussed on the show, because that is the primary focus of this board. Would I tell Sheepy, as I would anyone else, that they might need to be more selective if they are starting too many show related threads. Yes. It's really trying to find a medium. If a thread gets on-topic activity, then it's a success. There may be too many of these types of threads right now, but frankly I'm observing to see how successful these threads are, so we'll have a better idea as to what is the appropriate amount.
The staff does try pretty hard to not play favorites. We're certainly not perfect, but we try to be fair.
Good for Sheepy for making the effort.
Though I would caution him and others to check before starting new threads lest we have dupes. For example, I know we've had the "80s Bad Guy" thread before in some variation.

OK - right here is where things are getting hung up IMO.
Chastising people for "spamming" by starting a lot of new threads HAS happened in the past. There is no way you can say it hasn't. And the fact that this is apparently tied to a "new policy" of trying to allow more new threads (paraphrasing) adds to the misconception.
Can you possibly see how average posters who don't have knowledge of the "new ideas" would see the "events of today" as favoritism? That's fine that you are saying it isn't, but to attack/chastise K_O and Me because we mention that it looks like favoritism is wrong on your parts (meaning everybody who "yelled" at us).
You would have been better served by saying "hey, we wanted to try out this new idea/policy. What Sheepy is doing is cool for now until we see how things go." Instead you looked like you were being elitist (again, IMO).

With very few exceptions, people who have been banned for "spamming" along those lines were posting a torrent of threads typically about themselves, other posters here (almost always trying to pick a fight) or about the exact same damn topic over and over and over and over again.
