Yeah, I know.. Impossible. But, if I am gonna stay on this thing for any amount of time I need to put a few hundred calories towards a beverage or two on certain occasions. I need suggestions for a good low calorie, high impact coctail?

It seems like it pretty much boils down to high alcohol and diet mixer.

It does increase your metabolism, but that's why you get the munchies... and it makes you lazy, not too many calories burned laying around watching tv.

I never used to get hangovers but now that i barely drink because of cutting calories i get them the next day really badly.
Always remember to drink a bottle of water with your drinks and pop a few Tylenol before beddy-boos.

the problem is getting drunk and losing your inhibition and over eating when you get home after a night out. Have some vodka and soda water. Or just puke it all up... Drinking and dieting don't go hand in hand (freshmen fifteen). But that's already been pointed out.

i've been trying to drink healthy lately...i love plain unsweetened iced tea ( which is basically as healthy as water) and mixing blueberry vodka, its actually really refreshing...or mix any other flavored vodka like lemon or raspberry
just sayin unsweetened tea is a good healthy mixer

Initially, I cut back a little on my drinking when I changed my eating and exercising habits (I don't want to say diet, because I want to keep doing what I'm doing indefinitely).
But my drinking habits are back to what they were for some time now, and I've been able to keep losing weight/stay in shape.

Avoid mixing Tylenol (or any Acetaminophen) and Alcohol!!!
Mixing Tylenol and Alcohol will damage your liver - although the amount will vary by person, the biggest risk is alcohol-acetaminophen syndrome. Alcohol-acetaminophen syndrome can cause acute liver failure. Stick with Asprin.
Just a safety tip from old Uncle Matt. :bye:
I was doing Atkins for a while and it worked pretty well. Then I just started eating healthy (whole grains, fruit, veg, lean meats, etc.) But I love beer. The one thing I didn't want to give up. I brew my own at home (which makes it a constant temptation) I opted to see how my weight loss went while still drinking beer and amazingly I've lost a decent amount of weight without having to stop drinking beer.
Although it might be due to the fact that I drink beer brewed purely with barley or wheat. Most commercial (Bud, Coors, Corona..) use a lot of adjuncts like corn and rice that are overprocessed and don't burn off (digestively) as easily as malted barley and wheat.

Is there the same risk with ibuprofen?
Because although the days I get really drunk are few and far between, I'll have Advil when I do.

Ibuprofen and alcohol can increase the chance of stomach bleeding. There is a risk of stomach and intestinal "problems" with ibuprofen anyway, but alcohol can exacerbate it. Not as immediately problematic as Liver failure, but as Earl can tell you, a bleeding stomach or intestines can be potentially deadly if left unchecked.
And I have to say I am not a Doctor, so feel free to look up details on your own. However, I used to work in the PR department of a J&J subsidiary, so I know about the Tylenol issue from internal documentation, info on corporate lawsuits, product warnings, etc.

I knew about the potential stomach issues. My brother's an MD, and we have discussed what dosage of advil is okay, etc.
I just didn't know about the Tylenol/alcohol issue.
Once in a while if I need it I pop 2 aspirin and chug water before bed to prevent the ol' hangover.

I actually just had 2 diet plans laid out for me, one 30 day plan and one general plan. The general plan allowed for drinking.
Drinks: get rid of the sugary sodas. Martinis are okay, red wine, drinks made with tonic, anything made with agave is okay, no drinks made with a high sugar mixer. Some places will do a margarita with fresh-squeezed lime juice, that is okay, but stay away from those made with a pre-mixed mess of high fructose corn syrup. Absolutely no beer, malt beverages, anything in a can or a bottle other than red wine.
I'm just going to do red wine I guess.

The only real way to lose weight is to exercize and cut out all fried foods, cheese, enriched carbs, etc - than you don't have to worry as much about how many calories go toward booze. Liquid calories are not the same as food. If you didn't eat at all and drank 6000 calories of liquor a day, you would be thin as a rail.

I have a decent 'diet' drink.
-------------------------------
Easybake Mojito (65 Calories)
8oz. Diet 7up with 7-8 mint leaves crushed into it.
Strain out mint and pour over ice and 1oz. Bacardi Rum
This drink is great on a hot day.
