I slammed the breaks pretty hard so my foot is tender....my car got the most damage....

That sounds like the accident I had a few years back, when someone ran a red light and hit me. I knew it was going to happen. I saw the car coming at me, and I thought, calmly and clearly, "That car's going to hit me." And it did. It was just the weirdest, most surreal moment.
