We could only nationalize the domestic oil companies. Since we import the grand majority of our oil from overseas or companies that are based overseas, it wouldn't do any good.

Nationalization has been used effectively in the past, but simply won't in this instance.

Seriously, nationalizing ANYTHING is quite possibly the worst idea from economic standpoint ever.

A majority of that is state level taxes, which like the federal tax, go to fund rebuilding our infrastructure. The very infrastructure that makes gas so valuable.
