Here is my question:
When I walk, workout and/or work, I prefer to have a headset going in only one ear so I can hear the environment around me. I walk a lot at night and a lot of people drive like idiots in my neighborhood (not to mention it can get really dark, literally and figuratively) so I like to keep one ear "open".
I found a music adaptor that can turn anything (including my TV and Ipod) into a bluetooth capable device, but it requires A2DP.
Is there a one-ear style bluetooth headset that has A2DP?

Bluetooth file transfer question:
i have 2 laptops that are both bluetooth enabled. i want to be able to transfer files between them using the Bluetooth File Transfer service.
both laptops can see each other bluetooth-wise. in My Bluetooth Places, each pc can see the other's File Transfer folder. i can transfer files from laptop1 to laptop2, but when i try to transfer files from laptop2 to laptop1, i get an "incorrect permissions" or "connection could not be completed" error.
all of the bluetooth settings seem to be the same on both pc's. i'm admin on both and both are win xp sp3.
anyone know what might be happening? i did a google search, but i didn't find anything fitting the symptoms.
p.s. yes, i know i could just copy files to a usb key and transfer them that way. it's more about the principle of getting it to work than the practicality of it.

This is something that I had heard and dealt with before but the problem is that it could be an array of things ranging from file sharing to the actual bluetooth adapter.
Thus, without being at your computers what are their ages? What chipset are they using? And have you been to the laptop manufacturer website to make sure your blueetooth drivers are up to date.
Other than file sharing and up to date drivers the only other issue I have encountered is where an user presumes they are the admin but still operate under a power user profile. This is usually caused by someone like BestBuy setting up the computer which causes issues other than this too.

a few more details:
laptop1 is a an hp pavilion, a few years old. core duo processor t2250. firmware up to date. re-installed windows from scratch when i got it to get rid of all the bullsh!t that was pre-installed.
laptop2 is a dell mini netbook, atom processor. same deal. took it out of the box and blew away the existing windows install to start from scratch. definitely admin on both pc's.
bluetooth drivers are all up to date (as far as i can tell). using rocketfish micro adapters on both pc's.
i would suspect there's some sort of sharing issue, but not sure where to look. i was also wondering if AntiVir, PeerBlock, Windows Firewall or Windows Defender might be involved, but since each pc has the same protection apps installed, and the problem is only in one direction, i don't think so.
if this was a sharing issue, where should i start to troubleshoot??

In that case I would take them off the net and disable all security software. Try sharing, if it works you need to write a firewall rule to allow the bluetooth port open when it's active.
Also, did you set up your bluetooth's security such as key, etc? This is a lot less likely but it is a sliver of possibility.
Third, since you are using the same devices, the drivers would match up so it should not be an issue. I would disable and then re-enable the devices right before sharing. This may aide in discovery, etc.
Outside of that let me know if this works, I may have another idea.

My current laptop does not have bluetooth and I would like to make it so I can transfer files via bluetooth. I read that you can buy something called a dongle or something like that. How do they work, are they easy to set up and any recommendations on which is the best and fastest?

Yeah, if your laptop doesn't have bluetooth already in it (most PC's dont, all Macs made in the last few years do), you can get a USB dongle to make the connection.
Once the device is paired with your computer, you can just directly transfer files back and forth with the Bluetooth folder on your computer. And then you can swap as much tranny porn from your phone to your computer and back without a wire.
The innovations coming out to manage your tranny porn collection are just staggering these days.

I went to ebay and there are bluetooth dongles for like $1, actually most are around that price? Could these actually work? Any thoughts on which one to buy?
