I have a wedding in June, I need a new suit, but I really hate shopping for suits.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with buying a suit online.
Any recommendations for where to go? Any horror stories? Is it stupid to do this?

Bite the bullet and go to a store, lazy.

I hate shopping for suits too, but I had a pretty good experience at Men's wearhouse.

They like the way you look.
....in a creepy way. George Zimmer is looking at you through your kitchen window, masturbating furiously.

Just spit out my coffee. I can hear him in that gravely low voice of his:
"oh yeah, yeah yeah"

how a man looks in a suit speaks volumes about his character, both personally and professionally.
a good suit will be tailored to fit close to the body and this can only be done in person.
if you are looking for a decent 'budget' suit that will look presentable, Mens Wearhouse.
if you are looking for something with a higher quality/style, and price, then head to a Lord & Taylor type store or named designer.
happy shopping!

I can't think of a whole lot of things that would be worse to buy online.

I don't care if you buy one at a thrift store, just try the thing on please

yeah, you need to go in and try these on. Men's warehouse is good. Or just go to a department store like Macy's or JCPenneys. JCP has cheap ones that look very good.

BULLSHIT. So if a person happens to be fat and doesnt wear a suit well, that means they have a shitty character?

I buy a lot of stuff online, half the time if I buy just a graphic shirt it doesn't fit right, I wouldn't get a whole suit that way.

I understand what Friday is say, It's not about how YOU LOOK, it's about how you wear it, and how you carry yourself.

I still find that to be judgemental bullshit.

George Zimmer shows me young, large boobs in a prom dress to look at during Yankee games. I find this acceptable.
Ironically enough, the father in that ad looks like you a little bit.

all arguing aside
no one should buy a suit online
I try on a good 3 or 4 suits before making a choice
good places usually tailor and press your suit, so its ready to wear

um, no.
overweight men can look just as classy in a suit as thin men.
my dad is 6'4 and a rather large man and he looks better in a suit than many fit gentlemen that i have seen.
it's all in how the suit is tailored, and the confidence you have in your own character.
Go to Jos. A Bank when they have their monthly suit sales. They'll hook you up with measurements in 30 minutes or less.

again stop using the word character. I know plenty of people with good characters who just dont feel comfortable in suits. it doesnt mean you arent a good person. And assuming someone isnt a good person because they arent confident about how they look in a suit is probably the most retarded thing ive ever heard you say

that's not what i was saying.
if you are confident in the way you appear, you will exude a more appealing air than someone who lacks confidence.
the bottom line... don't buy a suit online.

Benoit looked like a little kid playing dress up, like a child attempting to look like a man by wearing his father's suit.

When my boyfriend and I went to get him a suit, we were a little uncomfortable with it because neither of us really knew much about men's suits. So if that is part of your reluctance, I would say go to a department store and ask an employee for help. At a real department store like Dillards or Penney's, the employees generally actually know their stuff and will be able to help you find something that fits your budget, your event(s), and, well, you. We went to Dillards and the lady in the men's department was a big help. She knew exactly what to do.
If you're spending the money for a suit, you deserve to have it fit correctly. There's very little chance that you'll get something that fits properly by shopping online, unfortunately.

The bottom line is tailored well-fitting suit looks assloads better than one that doesn't fit as well. Buying a suit online is intensely stupid.
Dude!

the one suit i got at mens warehouse is crap
thought i was buying wool but it turned out to be some awful synthetic
jos a banks is much better
their stuff is either wool or cotton and good quality
they have sales all the time and prices are very low

Buying anything online that has to fit something on your body is something I just cant deal with. Even buying the exact same pair of shoes is hard for me because I havent tried them. Dont buy a suit online, its probably going to come from some Albanian. Like everyone has said before go to a dept. store and make sure its something you like.

K & G for Value
Mens Wearhouse for their service
a department store is also a good place
I saw some nice Suits at Burlington Coat Factory of all places
Buying suits online? Men's Wearhouse?
I don't even understand where this site is going. Should I blame Gvac for this?

You don't wear many suits do ya?

I'd recommend Syms. They tend to buy in bulk name brand suits to sell them at discount. Plus they tailor in the store.

Doesnt Syms kind of require you to know your size and stuff? "An educated consumer.."?
If you are in Nassau County, try the Bachrachs (http://www.bachrach.com/StoreLocator.aspx) in Garden City.
They do an outstanding job and will provide you with an affordable suit that looks sharp.
