This premiered during Alaska Week on Discovery. I just realized yesterday that the show is an actual series.

Is anyone else checking it out? It follows 4 groups of people put in Alaska for 3 months, forced to survive off the land. One of the groups is a father and his two daughters. In the first episode, one of the girls snapped quick enough to start calling her sister a fat ass. There's no way a family makes it through confinement for 3 months.

It reminds me a little of the "1800's house" series on PBS. Catch those if you can too.

and the chick that started crying when the storage hole she dug ON A BAY SHORE started to fill with water???!!! Are you kidding me?

I need to know if any of these people knew that they were going to be in the wilderness or were they just picked up at work one day and shipped up there right away. It's like they never even read a survival manual or anything first. (these f'ups are the only thing that's making this good tv)

If I was on this show...I'd be sitting on a pile of moose jerky and salted, smoked salmon. Those potatos would be vodka by now.:wallbash:

watched the first episode last night, the father and daughters were immediately annoying hehe, im tempted to fast forward through their sections but will try to watch them and hope they turn it around.

everyone else is interesting, that guy grabbing the salmon with his bare hands was pretty cool and they both seem pretty laid back, the couple on the beach definitely have it the roughest but they did an amazing job on that outdoor cover they built, and the group of 3 seem pretty laid back and interesting too.

i would definitely want some lumber in between me and the animals when im sleeping if i was staying for months, years ago i camped in kaibab forest outside the grand canyon and in the early morning woke up to something rustling outside, from the sound of it it was huge and i was pretty freaked out, it took me like 15 minutes to peek outside the tent and there he was - a big ol' cow. hehehe, seemed so out of place to see a cow in the woods but i guess they graze there and this guy must have gotten lost or something.

will definitely keep watching the show.

and crying chick seems ok, she didnt have a breakdown or anything, probably just emotional from weeks of being uncomfortable and lack of sleep/food + things going wrong.

The characters are secondary to the great views/scenery.
The only likeable characters (so far) are the husband who had to go billy goat hunting, and his wife. They really seem to be making a go of it, and I'll guess they make out best.

The other husband and wife just look like a typical domestic violence training video.

I have tivo set for another one, though I dont know if it's the next in order.

The constant announcer guy tends to get annoying, as he seems to be saying the same thing over and over... but I guess theres no way to get around that.

The father daughter team is already making huge mistakes. Also, the tent couple just seems to be playing grizzly adams or something. They are freaky. ive only seen 1 episode of this, but it was pretty cool. The one awful couple in the tent that couldnt catch crabs in 6 inches of water (gee i wonder why) are actually from my town

last nights episode gets a resounding "hrrmph" from me, not much meat to it imo.

i wouldnt like it if it was all fake drama BS, but most of the people are a little too meek for me, doesnt seem like a great job of casting. the most animated people are the guy with his two daughters and unfortunately they are extremely annoying to me.

still a cool show, great concept, mediocre execution. way too repetitive but that seems to be a huge thing in reality TV now, they recap everything every time they come back from a commercial.
