Who do you like? ***I could only get 10 of the 20 horses on the poll list (so I used the ones with the lower odds)***
http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2008/contenders
As for the faves, I like:
Colonel John
Pyro
For the longshots... I'm looking at:
Eight Belles-------- (the only filly...and females always find a way to ruin things for me!)
Cool Coal Man----- (Nick Zito's with Leparoux -my favorite jockey),
Cowboy Cal --------(Pletcher/Velasquez),
Smooth Air---------(The trainer is 70 years old with his first derby start and the horse had a fever last week. Talk about your "heart-strings" horse. Cinderella story in the making!)
Gayego----------(because it's name has 2 of Gvac's prominent traits)

After watching Colonel John close in the Santa Anita Derby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZbEznrXXRs
I could not imagin anybody beating him. If you look at him move at the end it is impossible to say these horses are not atheletes and don't know what is going on.
As for a longshot I like Court Vision and Bob Black Jack.
The favorite Big Brown is in the 20th position which is very hard to win from.
I will bet heavy on Colonel John and pair him with Court Vision and Bob Black Jack. I will throw Big Brown in my tickets because he is that good.
I can't wait for Saturday

I like Bob Black Jack Gayego Cowboy Cal or Monba if there is gonna be an upset
Also Visionaire is a kick ass closer, can win, if the horses over work themselves
As for the Favorites
Colonel John is a tough favorite, but California has been very weak in the last 5 years
I am very hesistant
Big Brown is a Monster, but at Post 20, it is gonna be awfully hard for him to get right behind the leaders. Giacomo won from post 19, but he was a closer, was able to get his spot, then let the other horses wear out. I think the post gets to him
Big Brown, will DESTROY at the Preakness
Pyro: He sucked when finally racing against some decent competition, also sucked on the Poly Track, dont waste your money
I am poor, so my betting will be weak
Then put a $10 spot on 3 Horses probably
Colonel John (safe bet)
Bob Blackjack
Visionaire or Gayego
I'm going with Pyro, Colonel John, and Z-Fortune on my Trifecta, and then I'll probably lay some seperate action on Eight Belles since that's a decent long shot bet.
I'll be down at Delaware Park taking in some races and placing some bets tomorrow.

I will be at the Meadowlands tomorrow at the paddock bar, visiting "Rocco the Bartender" (he looks like an Italian version of "coach, from cheers" with glasses.)
the bar's on the lower level, straight back to the outside doors, make a left go to the end.
Good Luck everybody! Let's hit 'em hard!http://www.win2win.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_horse.gif

One of the greatest events in sports. I speak for Kentuckians (those of us that have all of our teeth and don't talk like some bumfuck hick) when I say that we are glad to have something that portrays us as some what classy people----except for the footage from the infield. I like Pyro, didn't do much in the Bluegrass Stakes here in Lexington at Keeneland but he is a very strong horse with guts. Drink plenty of Makers Mark and enjoy the race today----see ya' budday's

Wow that was sad. The filly finished on two broken ankles (who knows what she could have done) and fell hard after the race. They immediately put the horse down and it was pretty tough to watch.
Big Brown won and looks like a strong possibility for the first triple crown since Ted Williams.

good job if you played Big Brown on top
damn it, I changed my pick, (but not my bets) to Big Brown, after the Sad Story about Kent Desormeaux, it seems like who ever gets the sad story wins the race
