...is much more difficult than I thought.

Sure the aroma of bacon in the backyard and throughout the neighborhood smells wonderful as the bacon grease drips into the coals, as the coals slowly cook that delicious, wonderful, magical part of an animal.

But 10 minutes later, when your grill is in flames because bacon grease catches fire quite easily and kicks flames up to the bacon on the grill, which in turn catches fire...it's not such a good idea.

What you do is put a foil pan under the grates to catch the drippings.

Yeah, I didn't think it through too well. I love grilling, but bacon was a new experiment for me.

ah, my friend.
we grill bacon every week here.
what we do is we grill it on the 2nd level rack. upon almost completion, we drop it down to the main rack to let it char a bit.

Mmm, how about bacon cooked with a campfire? I'm camping now and that might just be the best smell in the world. One of my fellow campers cooked it in a metal pan, then cooked the burgers in the grease, then threw some green frying peppers in after. Kapow!

The only sexual experience I've had on this trip so far is the love affair I'm having with a smore right now. :)

the community my family's from in WV have "bacon roasts" all the time. a bunch of folk get together and roast slabs of uncut bacon over a fire and collect the drippings on italian bread and serve that with lettuce and tomatoe. insanely good stuff.

A grill basket might work in this bacon equation.

The old "basket trick", eh?
nope...the bacon is still over open flame. No bueno.

You're going to need a bigger grill.

Ooh, here's another experiment for you. Wrap jumbo shrimp in bacon and grill those. Then eat them with a bunch of beer. Terrific!

Wrap it in plastic wrap first.
