Hey - does anyone meditate? The more I try to practice different meditation techniques and incorporate them into my life, the more I see their value in terms of my own health and fitness. I'm better able to motivate myself and be consistent, my interpersonal relationships are better - etc. etc.

The mind body problem seeks to explore the questions "what is the body?" and "what is the mind?" and "where do they meet?" I'm firmly convinced that "healthy body" is so wrapped up in healthy mind that some meditation practice is essential.

one of my favorite is to meditate on how tiny absolutely everything that is on Earth/has ever been on Earth actually is... (inspired of course by the end of Al Gore's documentary about our imminent demise)

I center my breathing, drop my energy and contemplate the picture above and it's awesome. Certainly someone else does these things?

No love for this thread? :(

For me meditation is HUGE, it brings immeasurable peace, joy and fullfillness. It's difficult to explain to people. It's not easy at first, but when you close your eyes, breathe, feel your body and watch your thoughts as a silent witness without judgement, you go to where that witness lives and step out of the illusion of time. The voice of REAL you, is only heard in the silence. Only by quieting the mind can you hear how loud it speaks.

I've heard nothing but good things about meditation but I have not a clue how to get into that state where you can shut things off in your mind without the aid of drugs.
