alternate side of the street parking rules...

Can anyone explain this to a non-city boy who would hear this on 1010 wins all the time? What is alternate side of the street parking???????????????????????

rules that tell you you can't park on one side of a street mondays and thursdays (or such) and can't park on the other side tuesdays and fridays (or other such) so that they can clean the streets. makes it a bitch to find parking. for holidays they'll suspend the parking so that even if there's a sign saying no parking here thursdays you can park there tomorrow. the beauty of it is most people won't know it's suspended and parking is super easy to find if you do know.

could have used you back in the mid 1980's when i was working midnights in jersey city. you get home around 8:30am dead tired and there were no spots on the right side. so you parked on the wrong side and the sweeper came somewhere between 11:30 and 2:30 or something like that. i'd fall asleep and the 20 dollar tickets kept coming

hated throwing that money away and plus the sweeper really did jack shit and seemed to make some areas worse
