I haaaaate that they give Bill Donahue the time of day. He sucks. Earlier in the show they complain about special interest groups trying to control speech, and then they let Donahue spew his shit.

When in reality, if they would of listened to more of his apology Maher pointed out he did a muslims fashion show bit this year (which I saw when it first aired).
Maher takes on Muslims all the time, even when his panel and crowd started moaning in disagreement.

to criticize and take any shots at maher, after defending imus endlessly, is really disappointing ... if you're gonna champion free speech and be the vangard for edgey entertainment, you shouldn't pick and choose who you are gonna defend and villify -- isn't that what stern did to them ...?
in the last few weeks, haven't O&A made similiar jokes about the pope, and pedophile priests ...?
it kills me that they give the catholic league any credibility, and airtime ... maybe it their pennance for the st. pat's incident
he brought them down in 2002, and lobbied against lucky louie, and no matter how they spin it, giving the piece of shit donohue any credence, really crushes their credibility

THE sex-mad "Opie & Anthony" radio show is facing its own carnal comeuppance. Gregg "Opie" Hughes is said to be livid over an X-rated romp starring his stunning blond fiancée, known by her first name, Lindsay, and MTV wildman Bam Margera. A disgruntled ex-employee of the radio duo recently acquired rights to the video from Margera and it's soon to be released on a pay-for-play Web site, reports Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden. "They're doing the nasty - and I mean nasty," Hayden says. "Hughes is taking legal action to prevent its distribution. Apparently, he's so distraught, he's banned the name 'Bam' from being mentioned on the show." Hayden says Lindsay was living in Philadelphia, Margera's stomping grounds, when she met him and made the tape "to gain some exposure." This was before Lindsay began dating Hughes. Calls to reps for Margera and Hughes were not returned.

I see it as somewhat similar to when Ron & Fez have Shirley Phelps Roeper on - they obviously don't believe in most (if not all) of her views, but having her on can make for "interesting" radio.
O&A seem to do a similar thing with Bill Donahue. They don't always agree with his points and sometimes let him have it.
But I also agree with another post I just read that it may amount to a "make good" for the St. Pat's incident.

i don't know ...
i alway got the impression that ron gives phelps enough rope to hang herself -- never agreeing, at most maybe to illustrate the the hypocrisy of religion as a whole
there has been times where norton & anthony have been very vocal in their support of some catholic league nonsense ... they came down pretty hard on the artist who made the chocolate jesus, even echoing donohue's point of how catholics are picked on and no one dare mock the muslim faith out of fear
there was a real honest moment last year with louis ck railing against him for attacking luckie louie without ever seeing it ... that really should've been the end of entertaining mr. donohue

And I agree with you to a point. There is a lit that Bill Donahue says or does that is reactionary and ridiculous, but there are some things I agree with Donahue about. That the Catholic Church has become an acceptable public 'whipping boy' is one of them.
However, things like the chocolate Jesus thing have been blown way out of proportion (it is interpretive art), as are a lot of other percieved "offenses" that pop up.
Yesterday, I didn't think Donahue came off particularly good. It was obvious that he has an axe to grind with Maher due to years of 'Catholic Bashing' and not necessarily because of what he said the other day. It was the last straw for Donahue. It definitely came off as more of a vendetta and I think O&A let Donahue swing a little with that.
Of course that is just my opinion - not trying to start a fight or anything. :bye:

"The Job" was really good, but is definitely similar to "Rescue Me" - it was just cops instead of firemen.
However, I thought "The Job" had more comedic content than "Rescue Me" does. Probably because it was on network TV and they couldn't get away with a lot of the edgier dialog and subject matter that "Rescue Me" deals with.
Either way, it was a real shame that "The Job" was canceled.

No rush on the link above - that is actually an interview that Erock did over the phone last night.
Bam Margera actually called into the show just after 7:00am and talked with O&A directly. Apparently almost all of the same info was covered in the interview SOS linked, but it was better hearing the live interaction.
Just catch it later on the replay - although they might end up replaying the interview on the XM side to drive the point home to any late-comers to the show.

Like everyone, I'm 99% sure the sex tape thing was crap. However, I want to address Opie attacking the message boards that he doesn't like. Wackbag filters the names of radio characters and people who choose to appear on the radio, which is a bad policy. FBA and others do not. I have filters on my internet browsing until mid-May or so, so I can't see what's going on at FBA, but if anybody is talking personal shit about Op's chick, that's wrong. She doesn't appear on any radio show. This isn't like trashing Ant's ex, who is a radio character. There's the difference. So if FBA is allowing people to discuss Opie's fiancee's personal life, they're wrong, but otherwise they aren't just a bunch of haters.
