meh, that wasnt very entertaining imo.
i didnt try to score every round but in my general impression i would give it to hopkins by just a bit, could easily see it being a draw.
had high hopes for this fight, blarg.
(wow sports overload tonight, nba and nhl playoffs, ufc and boxing, and the sox played hehe)
*EDIT* wow, 116-111 calzaghe seems like a stretch, and im definitely not a hopkins fan. i guess they felt hopkins initiated the holding more. i thought hopkins landed crisper punches for the most part and when you add in the knockdown... hopkins was weak with those low blow cries tho from what i could see.

hopkins look like shit. he had 1 good round, round 1. i dont know what the hell the female judge was watching but it should have been unanimous for calzaghe.

I'm sure I would feel differently if I was raised on boxing the way some people I know were, admittedly I was only ever a big-event viewer, but how in the hell do you get into boxing today? I sacrificed watching about 1 & 1/2 fights on the UFC PPV (and missed the submission of the night, damnit!) to really give this fight a chance since I still hear some people talk about how boxing is more exciting than MMA & I wanted to give it an honest chance & watch every second of the fight.
How the fuck are you entertained by watching two guys you hear hype about for MONTHS in advance punch each other twice, then hug. Punch again, hug. Punch-punch-punch combo...oooh, this getting good...nope, hug. WTF?!
At one point in the middle rounds I started counting separations by the ref...Round 6 = 13 times, Round 7 = 11 times. How the fuck do you get any flow to a fight when the ref has to step in 13 times in a fucking 3 minute round? Awful. I'm glad that fight was free, not like the $50 ass-reaming I took for the Mayweather/Dela Hoya abortion last year.
Speaking of the Mayweather/Golden Boy fight, how fucking crooked are the judges? I know there is the occassional MMA fight that goes to the judges & the decision comes back wrong, but I watch a lot of MMA & only see it on the rarest accassions (Bisbing/Hammell). I've watched three fights in a year & found blatant mistakes in two of them. How did someone (even if it was only one judge) have the nerve to score that fight tonight in Hopkins favor? Holy crap.
OK, I've vented, now back to the real fans giving their take on this.
