so, i am trying to add music from my computer to my chick's ipod. i had to download itunes cause i never had it on my computer. when i went to sync the music from my computer onto her ipod, it said that only one itunes library could be synced at one time. is there any way to get around this so i can load some music onto her ipod without her losing all of her own music? why does apple suck so bad?

Not that I know of if you got the music from iTunes.
Transfer all the stuff that isn't from there, that should be easy.

all the music on my computer is from cds i have bought and ripped onto it. i haven't downloaded anything into itunes. it is currently converting all the songs into itunes compatibility. even after the songs are converted it still says i can only have one itunes library on an ipod.

put her stuff on your computer with the new stuff then upload it all to the ipod

Then give her the raw MP3s on a CDR and have her add them to her library and load them with her machine.

Yep, you can move Itune's songs a few times before breaking the ULA. I keep all my music on a portable drive, that way I can access the songs from multiple comps without using up one of my 'moves'..

Don't you have a DVD burner? It would take a hell of a lot less than 12.

250GB of more bus powered external hard drives = no burning whatsoever
16,218 songs so far. Bought from iTunes? Zero.

I think I understood that. In any case... the only thing I've ever downloaded from itunes is podcasts. None of which are even available now. Can someone explain why I have this on my computer?

You could have tried downloading Yamipod or any number of free itunes alternatives. You just need to enable hard disk in itunes first then you can copy to any computer at will.

1. Plug in iPod and wait until iTunes recognizes iPod.
2. Click no to automatically sync.
3. Click Manually Manage Music on the Summary tab.
4. Uncheck Sync Music on the Music tab.
You should be able to add new songs without adding old ones to the library, or losing anything on the ipod itself.
Hope this helps.

Where did the edit button go?
I just realized that I wasn't very clear about my answer. There's a free program called senuti - itunes backwards - that will help you do exactly what you're talking about. Just download it and away you go.

Same here, Mike. I've purchased only ten songs, and those were only under protest. I hate "exclusive" tracks.
I also don't waste space by having my Ipods synced to the computer. Having three Ipods - 40, 80, and 160 gig models - makes this impossible...especially with all the bootlegs that fill up my hard drive.
