please, help settle an argument. ok, how do you pronounce this word? does it rhyme with fairy or ferry? the way my wife's family pronounces it seems psychotic to me, but some online info seems to support their claim.

exactly my thought, but;

look at the pronunciation here (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dairy)

or, listen to it here (http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/dairy;_ylt=AhyuiOKl1Rf2WXtfOtyhezKsgMMF).

i feel like my world has been turned upside-down.

I pronounce ferry and fairy exactly the same, so they both rhyme with dairy.

hahaha i guess if a mod feels like adding some sort of "both" option that would be cool.

I wanna know how you guys who pronounce them the same say the word "air."

Or "hair."

Or "chair."

Is it err, herr, and cherr?

and, i don't know what they used that image for on 92.3 k-rock, but i think it's a bizarre coincidence.

I wanted to make a ferry/fairy joke ie: fat/gay so without thinking i did a google image search for "fat gay" and I didn't want to make a joke anymore.

And not that it helps but ferry/fairy are pronounced the same in canadian. But I think the context and em-phasis might sometimes slightly set them apart. I'm not sure anymore. Stupid fat gays.
