When I was a kid my mother would take me once in a while to a restaurant in Queens somewhere where the food was sent to your table on top of a train.
Does anyone remember anything like this?
As I recall, it was basically a big counter and the train was on a track that went through a hole in the wall into the kitchen.

That sounds pretty awesome. There's a japanese place in Fairfield, CA where there are rivers in front of your counter and the sushi comes to you on a boat

That sounds better than Chuck E Cheese. I never went to a place like that. I do love the model trains.

I know there's like no chance that this is the same restaurant, but we have one of these in Kansas City. It's called Fritz's and they are basically a burger type of joint. You sit at a booth, and you have a small personal jukebox at your table, and you place your order by phone. There is a little locomotive track running around the restaurant a little below the ceiling, and when the food is ready, it comes to your table, the train puts it on a little lift, and it comes down to you in a little box that way.
I don't have kids and don't typically have the time or desire to go sit and wait for a train to bring my food, but if I did have kids I would probably take them there - when you're little nothing beats having your food delivered via TRAIN!

There's more than one way to read that.

There was this awful place I went to once in the Inner Harbour in Baltimore, Nickel grill or something like that, and they had one of these train things, but I dont remember if it brought your food or not. It was a long time ago

That's pretty cool, better than the Park 'N' Tell in Dumphries where gals on roller skates brought you the food and had a big tray that hooked on the side of the car.
While you dined, you could listen to the radio by taking the bigass Sennheiser-looking microphone you used to order and clipping it to something inside the car, with the cord going out the window to the menu board you parked next to.
The sound quality was crappy, but you see, it was the concept that counted.
We were entering the space age and this was a sign of modern things to come....
