I do not remember ever having allergies, but I feel like shit right now. My throat is closing up and I am coughing and it feels like my throats on fire. It started with a sore throat.
Is this allergies? Do allergies make you cough? I coughed so hard before I almost hurt my back! I think I taste blood..
I always thought allergies made your nose run and eyes itchy....Am I wrong? I thought this might be a cold...
Someone told me to take Sudafed, is that good for this?

Doesn't sound like allergies. It's been so cold that I think the allergy season will be late in coming this spring. I usually get hit with the itchy eyes, runny nose and scratchy throat but I haven't noticed anything yet.
A Sudafed couldn't hurt.

I didn't get allergies until later in life. I can't eat fresh fruit or raw walnuts. I also have seasonal allergies. I had THE worse cough 3 years ago. That was the first time that happened to me. I'm starting to get it again. Spring KILLS me. Try this:

They work really quick. I just bought a few this morning.

Hmm..those sound very interesting! Thank you! Do your allergies make you cough? I thought I was getting bronchitis it was so bad!
I will pick them up later, but I took Coracidin before because I saw it has an antihistimine in it and it seems to be easing, but yours look like it would start working faster.

My allergies started about 10 years ago. I started getting the cough about 3 years ago. It started off really bad where my husband told me to go the doctors. I waited it out for about 3 weeks and the cough was gone. It only happens in the spring.

I got the strips and tried one about an hour ago. Right now I feel tremendously better. Thanks for the suggestion!

many allergies cause post nasal drip which gets you cough and sore throats...
if benedryl does not help I swear by zyrtec. now it's avaiable OTC and even generic. (cheap)

From the looks of the trees and everything else blooming it may be related to all that pollen.
Remember, trees Do pollute!

OH SHIT I am just getting over one of the worse sinus infections I've had in years, and I've been getting them since my mid 20's. Its that time of year, half the people I know were sneezing or coughing and everyone at work was sick monday thru wednesday this week. Whenever you see your car covered with that sticky dust around this time of year, you know the pollen is flying around everywhere.
But for me its not allergies, its a sinus infection (Sinusitus). It started after I had an accident and banged my nose badly, resulting in restricted air flow on one side. It always starts on that side and then eventually spreads around. I get sinus headaches, nasal irritation and congestion, and a sore throat and cough. Its the same cycle each time. Starts in the nose and heads down the throat within a day or two.
Read the labels on the medicine, make sure your symptoms match what the product helps. I took allergy medicine for the first few days and it didn't help much. Allergy medicine is just for itchy eyes/nose. The "Sinus" ones have extra medications for the nasal congestion and headache.

I'm just getting over what you guys are talking about, and it's not allergies. It's something going around, and it knocks you out for 3 days. I've been sleeping for 3 whole days.
Sucks.

The past week has been murder on my allergies. I looked it up on weather.com and the only allergens that are currently high are grass pollen counts. So now I know to avoid grass :glurps:

hooray for changing seasons! welcome back, allergies :bye:
Two days ago my pharmacist advised me that my Abuterol inhaler has been discontinued because it is not environmentally friendly. FUCK the Environment! I wanna breathe!!!
As an added bonus, the new inhaler they gave me doesn't work for more than an hour or two.... and is more expensive for a smaller amount. So I will try another inhaler today... for even MORE money. ROAR.
I never had allergies until I moved to NJ.... :wallbash:
Now I have to take Claritan like a shnook.

if you need a rescue inhaler that much, you should look into other meds that help you prevent these attacks. Don't get me wrong, I often stretch out my meds by skipping days, but I usually know when I need the inhaler I should really go back on my meds (I use singulair and zyrtec)
The doc gave me a sample of a different inhaler and it seems to do the job (Xopenex HFA)

believe me, i know. i have lived with asthma since puberty.
having no insurance now means having no every day meds. Singulair is over $300.
i get a months worth of samples every now and again from my doctor but i have to make it last for much longer than it should.
life is so easy when you have insurance. believe it.
meh.
