View Full Version : Get CT & Jivin on air!

Ok, so there I was at work the other day flying over the country staring out the window, brainstorming with myself. I honestly can say I work in my dream job that I had wanted since I was 5. It's not like I had thought it would be, but I still enjoy going in to work every day. I had also just finished listening to the 4/7 podcast on the way to the airport and CT had made a comment about how when you chase the dream, your the only one that wants you to succeed. He couldn't be farther from the truth in terms of the show. I know all of us loyal listeners want them to be successful and get on air.
So, I've decided to do my part in trying to get them on air. When Ron and Fez were booted from the radio here in NY after WNEW flipped, RonFez.net organized and collectively began calling radio stations around the area trying to get them to back on air. While it wasn't successful, it did get some great publicity for Ron and Fez, and it might be just what it takes for the CT and Jivin Show to get aired.
So, anyone have any ideas? Unfortunately, I'm like CT and Jivin... more of an idea guy, rather than an action guy, so it will take everyone pitching in ideas. There aren't many talk stations left in the country after the Imus debacle, but I'm all for organizing to make the dreams of these two guys a reality.
Anyone want to make up some CT and Jivin stickers? I'll gladly put one on my flight kit (as long as its tasteful) next to my Ron and Fez sticker... it's free advertising seen in airports around the country. I'll even leave some CTandjivin.com advertising on the little notepads in the hotel rooms I stay in at work.
What are you going to do?

Stickers or other swag is a great idea, I'd throw some up on my service trucks and tool boxes and test equipment cases, perhaps somebody on here has hookups in the sticker industry. Also I did phone our nearest talk radio station, but they didn't seem overly pleased with me telling them what to program, then I called them asshats, and it went downhill from there.

I like the sticker idea but find that it may be difficult to translate into more traffic to the podcasts. More traffic or exposure to the podcasts would lead to a larger audience and hence a better chance at being signed. I would say a web based approach may be more effective in expanding CT and Jivin's audience, for one it is the medium in which we all connect with the show and two its a lot easier to click on a link to the site than to write down a web address displayed on a bumper sticker.
This is what I think would be useful in spreading the word:
<A HREF="http://www.ctandjivin.com"><IMG SRC="http://www.ctandjivin.com/artwork/ctj_cdcover_04.jpg"></A>
If you actually click on the above picture taken from www.ctandjivin.com it will take you there. Here is the BROKEN html code that if you copy and paste it to your own webpage will link to The CT and Jivin Show's website, and thus the podcasts, with a slight modification.

I hope this isn't taken as being against show swag such as stickers, t-shirts, etc., but as a way that we can practically promote the show with our own websites, myspaces, etc. The more word that gets out about the show the bigger the audience gets which gives CT and Jivin a better position when they interview: "We have built a loyal active audience that promotes the show for us, Chickenwing and The Duke don't."

I’ve been working on a project to promote the show within the myspace community. I’ve been isolating clips from previous podcasts and turning them into addable songs to myspace pages. So rather than a song to greet your visitors you’ll have a segment of The CT and Jivin Show playing instead. Though my personal page isn’t the highest trafficked one out there I’m sure if enough fans follow suit and place a clip on their myspace that it would give the show exposure to people who haven’t heard of it yet. I think this would be more useful in getting the word out about CT and Jivin than just telling people to check them out—it gives people a chance to hear some show content that may lead to them downloading the podcasts.
If you’re interested in adding any of the below clips go here and click on the add option next to it:
http://www.myspace.com/thectandjivinshow
1. This One’s for Jivin
2. Heaven’s Price of Admission and Ball Steeping
3. CT’s Sickest Legal Porn
4. Jivin’s Necrophotography Site
I am limited to only six clips per page. But I could easily expand the effort by adding sister sites. If there’s a particular segment you want isolated for your own page let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
This leads to an obvious further expansion opportunity for the show: Facebook. I personally don’t use it, but I can provide the isolated mp3s to anyone willing to do the same on the Facebook side of the social networking sites.

Great idea! I don't have myspace or anything, but have it as a link in my AIM profile for my friends to see. Anyone know how to make some swag? I'm not overly familiar with Cafepress, and I'd like to have something other than the black and white CT and JIVIN square to use.

I tried adding one of the clips but it says that the artist doesn't allow users to add this song to their profile.

I like it, I was also thinking that the Not Zombies sign ( I don't recall off the top of my head who made it) would make a great one too.

I'm going to talk to a buddy of mine who works in a sign making shop and see what a run of stickers cost, even something low cost like "surprisingly entertaining" with ctandjivin.com under it would work. If it isn't ridiculous I will get a bunch made and send them out to anybody that is interested. I'm not looking to make any money off of this, just promote the show, so I would think it would be cheap do distribute to everybody. I'll just have to see what it will cost. (CT or Jivin please step in and let me know if this is out of line)
Does anybody know what font it is they use for their logo?

Lets get them moving up the list on PodcastAlley.com: http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=32657
I've had enough of hearing about Paltalk "shows" get the word out.
Drop a "CTandjivinfans.com" or "CT and Jivin, Sunday nights on Itunes" plug if you get on any of the shows.
DO IT.
