Been awhile since I used MAME, but google romworld and romnation. Keep digging, and you'll run across those sites that have more, but you have to go through 5 pages of captchas to get them.

Care to post a pic of what you're planning to buy? I've seen some weird setups in the past.

I'm hoping to build a system around the x-arcade tankstick.

I'm probably not going to do anything too special with a case because I have light on floor space. I just hope to hide my box under a cocktail table, and run the controller and monitor on the top of it.

Steels, an old poster here, sent me about 2 gigs worth of MAME games a few years ago. At the time my computer was balls and ran everything like shit. I still have the DVD-Rs they are on, I just haven't tried them again. WoW kinda killed all other video gaming in my life.

Yeah, playing other games over WoW is pretty much taking methadone... But I have to try.

I honestly have no clue what's being spoken about in this thread.

Is it code?

Esperanto?

Some secret language twins speak to one another?

See my previous post.

You would actually like it. It allows you to play exact versions of virtually every videogame from your youth on your computer.

Well Jesus Christ, why didn't somebody say so?

Thank you mikey!

Can I play Atari Superman and Activision Boxing? If so, I'll take one.

If someone tells me how to hook it up.

You can download and install it for free somehow, from someplace. A techie friend of mine did it for me on my pc. So you just need a techie friend.

sorry, I've been incredibly unhelpful in this thread.

It's pretty easy to get something running.

I'm really looking forward to playing streetfighter II.

You need to download the MAME program from a reliable source.

Extract all the files into a MAME folder. Then click on MAME.exe to run the program.. It should start up.. You don't have any games yet, so not much will happen.

The games come in the form called ROM. These ROM's need to be downloaded from a reliable source. Take the whole ROM as a .zip and put it in the ROM folder that is in your MAME folder.

If you have a good ROM it will show up in a list the next time you start MAME. Use arrow keys to get to it and viola. You will be playing your old arcade nemisis. errr, after you get your keys set up, and all the kinks worked out..

There are a ton of MAME sites. I am still looking for some good ones. This site was helpful to get started. http://www.geocities.com/mamehelp/

I have one of these - it's excellent. One day when I stop being lazy, I am going to build a cabinet for it. They sell one but it's really expensive.
