OK, maybe it's just me being picky, but has anyone seen any posts (xmfan is where I have been looking lately) of slick looking XM installs? Seems to me everyone that posts their pictures has wires sticking out or crooked units hanging off their dashes.

Anyone have any GOOD install pictures to share?

pffff, go with the custom job like i did. My XM unit is on my passenger seat and the wires run through the middle of the car in between my split backseats into the trunk onto the lid. LET THE WIRES BE FREE

Im not sure if mine counts because
A) I was a car stereo installer for 4 years, and worked in the industry when my install was done, so i had much better access to resources.

B) I use an aftermarket touchscreen with the XM tuner hidden behind the dash. I therefore dont have any pictures of the tuner. I do however have pictures of outside of the car where you can see the antenna, dead center on the roof line.

I like the way you incorporated the drill into the install.

Bob, did you / do you work for Cookin'/Tweeter? I work with a guy who did and he was telling me some awesome horror stories of installs gone bad the other day.

I probably should have mentioned that these pictures were taken during the install. All of this is covered now, although we DID remove the drill before we finished up.

Trust me, I was in that business for a long time, it's fuckin' brutal. Long hours, TERRIBLE money, ball busting customers, ball busting employees, it's not an easy road.

Every shop has them. I have a story that literally makes people run away when I tell it.

I saw this story (http://www.botian.org/content/2008-04/man-left-with-12k-in-damages-after-circuit-city-gps-install-gone-wrong.html) and that's what made me think of it.

A) Sounds like a bad install, but 12K is outrageous. I want to know the exact damage before I even get close to that figure.
B) The dealership ALWAYS makes things sound worse then they are. A damaged heating duct and glued in speakers doesn't make a car unsafe.
C) Circuit City is godawful, their installs are ALWAYS terrible, I feel bad for anyone who has used them, ever.

That being said, the photo is "massaged" to make it look as bad as possible. Trust me, this isn't bad by their standards. I've personally repaired cars from them with cut airbag wiring, major sub dash structural damage, fire hazard wiring, and other fun scary things.

Is this a car radio, or the Early Warnings System at N.O.R.A.D.? You don't fuck around, do you Bob?

Great setups and pictures, and I like to see a drill or something else that can give me a sense of scale as to how big the things are.

It's pretty amazing; audio systems in cars now as powerful/more powerful then small club band PA's I've played through.

Very true. My setup is geared very much towards sound quality and it still runs 1,600 watts RMS (Root Mean Squared) with Optical passed 5.1 processing, 31 bands of equalization, Digital Time Correction and 4 different cross overs (2 active, 2 passive). All that and 90% of the time I listen to Ron and Fez in the car. But they're CRYSTAL CLEAR (whenXMhasasignal).

What do you do if you have a flat tire?

What do you do if you have a flat tire?

1)I dont have the stock wheels on the car anymore (came with 17s, I have 18s on it now)
2) I carry fix a flat and a puncture repair kit. I'm prepared for anything short of the tire blowing off of the rim.
3) I own a cell phone.

How do you like your tc?

And don't you think they'd sell a ton more if they offered it in a convertible?

I like it enough, cant ask for more for the money.

Hmm, I think it would be a good looking convertible.
