I just watched the newest version of Scrabble today. It sucks. It got me to thinking about all of the great game shows the have tried to re-make.

Which got me to thinking about what my favorite gameshow was. Mine, by far Press your luck

Yours?

i like all the shows mentioned so far. favorite would be Press Your Luck. that guy who went 30 or so turns without a whamee is funny shit. jokers wild, card sharks, and classic concentration were all great. i remember an episode of classic concentration where a guy kept guessing numbers over 15 or whatever it was to try and win the car. it was hilarious.

and the Dating Game. There was also some game where they rolled big oversized dice on a large craps-type table. Can't remember the game.

Press Your Luck is unbeatable. I remember when they tried to remake it and it wasn't the same. The little red Whamees running a lawn mower over the people's money was my favorite. I also miss ol' "neuter your animals" Bob Barker on Price is Right. Drew Carey sucks.

I saw a very interesting documentary on GSN where a player memorized the patterns used on the game board and won over $110,000. May 19, 1984

http://gscentral.net/larsen.htm

Paul Michael Larson (May 10, 1949 – February 16, 1999) was a contestant on the American television game show Press Your Luck in June 1984. Larson's claim to fame was his winning $110,237 in cash and prizes, which he was able to do by memorizing the patterns used on the Press Your Luck game board.

I don't know the name of this show but it was a 70/s beauty contest type of show and the winner got a cheap trophy and wore a crown made of carrots??? The host of the show would sing while the winner walks the runway.

$1.98 Beauty Show
Funny send-up of beauty contests produced by Chuck Barris. Some of the contestants are gorgeous and others ...aren't but it's all in fun and the best part is the host, Rip Taylor--he's a riot!
