How bout dem Ooooooooooooooooooooooo's hun, off to a good start may need to get some natty boh and some crabs and watch these guys when im back

Seriously they are off to a 5-1 start, which probably wont mean much as they will likely finish last in the East but who knows 20 years ago the birds made a run at toronto till the final weekend of the season

Gotta like what MacPhail has done since coming here - Traded Tejada for young arms and Luke Scott (currently batting .500) and then traded Erik Bedard who wouldnt sign an extension in Baltimore and got Adam Jones a 5 tool stud CF (almost as hard to find as #1 starters), George Sherrill who is their closer (4 saves already, with 3 against his former team the M's) and 3 other young arms. And the biggest move of all that may show that Angelos really has finally got it is they got Jay Gibbons and ate his 11.9 million contract to keep a S. Moore.

Now many are saying that the Orioles have the best AAA pitching staff and have a lot of young arms in the system and some up and coming studs (Nolan Reimold, Matt Wieters) to go with Adam Jones and Nick Markakis

And if and when the season tanks they may move Roberts for even more talent, and if Wieters shows drastic improvement he may make the show this year meaning bye bye Ramon Hernandez (most teams like a good veteran catcher down the stretch). For those that dont know Wieters in his first game in Single A - 1st 2 AB - 2 HR

So lets hope for some Orioles Magic

Oh see that was the good thing about the station, once 2000 hit they just replayed the same songs from 1994.

Yeah, but they only played the big "alterna-hits" by then. I'm gonna play the music snob card here, because WHFS was like radio manna for my ilk back in the day. Sure, they played big 90's acts like Nirvan and such, but they played a huge range of under the radar contemporary music...lots of Britpop and British indie new and classic, electronica/techno/trip-hop/etc., some awesome hip-hop picks, lots of themed shows and blocks...and they NEVER played anything resembling classic rock or big rock/metal bands. That was the territory of DC101. There was a clear difference between the two stations that slowly disolved until by 200 they were basically the same entity. AND NO TALK-FUCKING-RADIO. No morning shows or anything like that...the Junkies getting a slot was truly the final death knell for what WHFS had been.

Not coincidentally, the amazing annual WHFStivals took a sharp downturn in quality, too. 1999 was the last one I went to, but 1998 was the one where they really jumped the shark. By the time 99.1 switched to Salsa, it was a mercy killing.

Right here. It was one f'n game and it was close. How'd that second game go? And how about a series wager since you're so uppity!? The better question would be where'd that 6-1 first place O team go?

The only wager I will make is finishing position versus the 'experts' predicition of 60 wins. How many did they predict for Toronto? You should want the O's to have a better season than they predicted, if they steal enough wins from the Gankees and Sawks Toronto might have a shot at sneaking into the playoffs. But probably not.

They aren't changing the anthem, they're just emphasizing one part. It's what happens when you lift the melody from an Irish drinking song for your national anthem. Do they even play the US anthem in Toronto? Do people boo when they do? I know it happens at hockey games up there.

It's my fucking opinion and it doesn't matter how many people you LUMP into the argument to falsely add value it doesn't change the fact that it's the national fucking anthem and your bastardizing it for a fucking baseball team's cute antics. Yeah, I'd defend that tripe too. Bravo.

Who's clueless? Oh yah, 21 was a saint too! We should have given him a 21 gun salute and left his pro-bowl spot open to start the game right!? AHAHhahahahaah! Surely you're not a homer or anything, so of course I'll take your arguments to heart! And I added this bc you two like to link things that have nothing to do with the argument at hand, so enjoy!!

Step one: be a punkass bitch
After being drafted, Sean did not return calls from Joe Gibbs and left the rookie orientation camp early. Then he was arrested for DUI then after his first year he was arrested for waving guns in Miami. Then in the Redskins first playoff game in six years was ejected for spitting on an opponent then lied to the coach about it.

http://czabe.com/daily/archives/cover_taylorspit.jpg

From a popular Redskin Blog just before the 07 season....
"Step two: wear out your welcome
Last season Sean started out the season drawing late hit and facemask penalties by the bushel and by the end of the season was a distracted player in a bad defense. It seemed to me as though he realized the season was lost and so he just went for the hit or ran into the play without looking and as the season wore on I saw him behind the play more and more. In the Pro Bowl he was decidedly unsportsmanlike, leveling AFC punter Brian Moorman with a cheap shot. George Solomon, editor emeritus of the Washington Post Sports section advocated trading him and Joe Gibbs could not find him in the offseason. There were rumors that he was unhappy with his contract (op. cit.), which runs until 2011 and wanted to get in on some of that money action the Redskins doled out to their crop of free agents before the 2006 season."

Good one Potsie, lets fall back on the Sean Taylor thing because that is relevant to the Orioles conversation you really are just a clueless fool. Yeah saying the letter O is just so disresepectful god you are just a clown.

And yes, sean taylor was young and immature when he first came to the skins there is no arguing that, but what you fail to realize is that people can change as their life goes on (i know thats hard for you to understand because you have been a prick for the last 7 years and couldnt change if your life depended on it). And keep bringing it up, arrested for DUI case dropped, arrested for waving guns again case dropped lack of evidence

Labeling him out of place on the defense was true he was playing out of position in that defensive scheme and at the start of this past season look at what he did when put in the position to make plays

And a cheap shot on Moorman, tell me how that is, the player had the ball in the field of play, there was no penalty on that play. Ask any player when you dont play at 100% that is when injuries occur, but i doubt you would understand things like that, and you couldnt be more wrong about him getting out, the skins were looking to redo his contract and was going to get in all likelihood the same contract the eternally overrated Bob Sanders got.

And you are going to sling arrows about players, when lets see Sean Merriman is a drug abusing cheater because he has been caught not once but twice now and LT2 is a crybaby bitch who cant lose respectfully. You have a lot of nerve

"And you are going to sling arrows about players, when lets see Sean Merriman is a drug abusing cheater because he has been caught not once but twice now and LT2 is a crybaby bitch who cant lose respectfully. You have a lot of nerve"

Hilarious. I hate the fact that Merriman is a bonified cheater, no doubt about it. What makes us different is that I don't defend him at all costs and lick his balls bc he plays on my favorite team. And for the record, he's been caught once. That's one more time then Taylor was able to use his hatchet to defend himself when his boys came to collect.

As for LT, so what. He didn't like the way the Pats handled themselves and just look how they did it again in the SB loss. He was right. Try to find fans who aren't homer pat fans to disagree. You won't.

Nice try tart boy. And oooooooo, I'm a prick, I'm so sad now. Keep feeding me my drug bitch, I love it you flaming homer! :furious:

I've been a big, big fan of Adam Jones since I caught a little bit of him when he was in the Mariner organization.

He's is an absolute future superstar in the making.

The Orioles are in an interesting position. I don't think they can sustain anything over the long-haul this year.

And if that shows to be the case over the next couple months, they've got to be smart enough
to deal guys like Mora and Roberts and keep reloading the system.

I would shop Sherrill, too, although unless you're going to get a good prospect back, I'd probably hold on to him. Him and Ray at the back end next year could be a nice one-two punch.

Yes I remembered it was preakness weekend. Inner Harbor and Fells Point was PACKED that night. I saw more Ferrari's and Lambohrgini's that night then in a Cannonball Run movie. Watched the race on the big screen at O's park while eating Boogs Roast Beef sandwich. Good times.
Didn't notice the accents though.

Now i challenge the rest of you O's fans to post more in this thread. They are better the we the fans could have hoped and may keep this season going, probably no playoffs but just competitive

Wasn't sure what you like to do, so just tried to cover most areas of tourist stuff--museums, history, food.

Hippodrome -- recently restored theater, very cool inside:

http://www.rosebrand.com/images/portfolio/Hippodrome-Theatre-a.jpg

Shot Tower -- Historic brick tower that was used to make cannonballs in the 19 century.

http://z.about.com/d/baltimore/1/0/_/0/-/-/HWPhoenixShotTower500x392.JPG

The Washington monument is in a part of town called Mt. Vernon (oddly enough). Really not much more than to just go past and see it. But Baltimore is called Monument City, and there are hundreds of monuments around.

Not sure but i have heard eye births are the toughest

And a huge huge win last night for the Orioles with coming back from 2 runs down twice in the same game

Sad to say it but i see Aubrey Huff being traded at some time this year for prospects as the orioles drop out of contention and Huff having a decent season just raises his appeal to other teams, i could see a team like the Angels or Indians making a play for Huff

So the first win against the Twins in the last 10 games

a modest 2 game win streak to pull out of the cellar as well, they need to have a good road trip to stay near that magical .500 mark

And Radhames Liz looked good last night unlike the other "heralded" starter from NY last night. And Liz and Olson have looked good this year as has the bullpen with Jim Johnson

Adam Jones is looking a little bit better, it looks like Millar may be traded though and possibly back to Boston.

George Sherill looks like he will be the O's all star representative, but Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis have really picked it up over the last two weeks

Just got back. Sat next to some O's fans from Maryland. Did the "Oooooooooooooooo's' thing during the National Anthem much to the chagrin of the Yankee faithful, and my friend who's a Yanks fan.

Talked up Oriole magic, and as I was telling everyone around me what a star Adam Jones would be, the guy hits a grand slam and a triple!

You could have heard a pin drop in that stadium when the O's were up 11-1.

All in all, a great time.

Yankee Stadium has a fun atmosphere as always, but the vendors fucking blow. They had NO hotdogs for the first two innings behind our section. Just a bunch of retards standing there watching the hot dogs on the rollers, while a line wrapped all the way around the concourse, and all I'm looking for is a beer, some peanuts, and a pretzel. Just brutal. :furious:

I went to a Frederick Keys game the day before Weiters was promoted to Bowie. HR first at bat, monster double his second ab, after that the other team started walking him. A couple weeks later we were in Baltimore for an O's game and decided to stay an extra day so we could catch a Baysoxx game. There was absolutely no drop off in in the level of his play from A to AA. He could easily be the face of the organization in the future. Patient hitter, hits for power, and has a great arm.

Well another year and probably another losing season, but the pitching is coming and they should at least be solid defensively with the addition of Izturis and Pie and moving scott to DH.

The good:
1. No more Daniel Cabrera or the rest of the staff that led the team to the most walks in the AL the last two years
2. Matt Wieters time is almost here and will be with the team most likely in late May so they can avoid the start of his 6 years before free agency. Plus he was named Baseball Americas #1 prospect.
3. Young pitching - Troy Patton, Chris Tillman, Jake Arrieta, Brian Matusz, Brad Bergesen, David Hernandez, and Matt Albers are just some of the names that will be coming to pitch in 2010 and 2011 when they get experience - Tillman and Matusz were also in the top 25 of baseball america and Arrieta was in the top 50.
4. Signing of Brian Roberts to an extension and Nick Markakis as well shows the team is serious about keeping its homegrown stars and may help in Free Agency.
5. Solid Bullpen with the return of Chris Ray to go with Jim Johnson and George Sherill

The Bad:
1. Shaky staff after Jeremy Guthrie and Koji Uehara (who has looked good so far) hopefully Rich Hill can return to his earlier form, after that its a toss up Hayden Penn (who is out of options), Adam Eaton?, Danys Baez?, and a cast of others
2. A lot of free agents who will play a good amount after this season - Melvin Mora and Aubrey Huff to name two and will probably get dealt during the season for more prospects and nobody in the pipeline to replace them.
3. The return of Miguel Tejada? He is a free agent after this season and said he would like to come back to the O's as a 3B - a move he didnt want to do that sped up his trade to the Astros
4. Andy McPhail who has done a great job at improving just about everything has his contract end after this season he above all else needs to get a new deal

And last but not least O's fans you need to vote O's in the mlb team vote off dont let the yankees win it.

well suck it world 3 straight series wins to start the year and the bdc magic record still attainable.
and robertr, jones, markakis may be the best 1-2-3 hitters in the league and wieters isnt even playing yet.
but with dreadful starting pitching it wont last
