View Full Version : Do You Read The Entire Thread...
before you reply, or just the initial post?
Or just the title?
I see lots of people posting things that have already been said, or responding to a question that's already been answered.
Just wonderin'.

i don't see a problem with posting your own response if it happens to parallel that of another person. without some fraction of redundancy, would these boards even continue to exist??
i tend to read the thread. unless it's over 5 pages... then i will skim it.
if, at that point, i feel i have something to offer (mindless as it may be), i do so.

I read the whole thread. If I repeat anything someone's said I just must've missed the original. I actually try to be really careful not to do that..... just for you, Gvac.

 Funny..
I read the whole thread most of the time..Then try to steal the funny stuff so the people with ADD will think I'm cutting edge and fun to be with..
I have learned however, that a post any longer then a "Haiku" is gonna be passed by like a white kid at a track meet..

I usually read the first page, then see that a thread is really long and don't post anything. It's why I don't have more posts on here than I do.

I have the decency and respect to read the whole thread before I answer.
Well, except any thread started by.... you know who.

depends on the length of the thread and how much time I have...
10+ pages usually only the first 3 and the last 2 get my attention...

if it's more than 2 or 3 pages long I'll just go for it after reading the initial post and 1st page. sometimes i'll be hyper( after a cup of coffeee) and just quickly do a reply without reading anything other than the initial reply. some people seem to get upset or criticize someone if they repeat someone else's reply which i feel is silly. it's something that happens very little compared to their number of replies

sometimes I just jump to the end and answer the the first post - sometimes I skim. I agree with Friday though - it's not like if you have the same opinion on something you can't put it up.

Paragraph is my limit. But I won't post on anything I don't read all of it.
I should have made this a poll so I could put the people who say "no" on my ignore list.

I try to read the whole thing. It seems like the long threads have serious responses pages 1-2, poking fun at each other pages 3 on... and I like to read both angles.

I should have made this a poll so I could put the people who say "no" on my ignore list.
I don't know if there's a time frame in which a thread starter can start a poll, but I was able to add a poll to my post-whore thread like a week or so after i started the thread.
*edit* it was really only 2 days, but felt like a week.

Honestly, if the thread is a page or two long, I'll read it. But use the youtube thread as an example: are you going to watch 70 pages of responses to make sure you don't repost the same video? Not me. Thankfully the poster that use to complain about that stuff no longer posts and makes an issue of it.

It depends. If there are only a few posts I will read them all, but if there is more than a page I will only respond to the question.

I only read the first 2 posts in this thread. Once it passes 2 pages it's too much to read. I'll read some of the first page and some on the last.
If it's interesting enough. I'll read more.
