Scorsese's ratio of Stones songs per movie went way up this weekend.....He used Gimme Shelter in Casino,The Departed and Goodfellas......

The commercial for Shine a Light on XM is my new favorite horrific commercial. SO bad, in so many ways, I'll just hang up and listen for now.

If Mick stands in front of those lights for 18 seconds...

Seriously, any desire I had to see this movie evaporated with the reviews. I was thinking it would be a Stones doc a la "No Direction Home". But, no, it's 10 minutes or so of documentary on Scorsese freaking out about not knowing the set list, then the rest of the movie is these old farts hauling their colostomy bags around the stage.

I'm amused by people who claim that Mick Jagger is as vital on stage as he's ever been. Are we watching the same band? After a few songs now, he's huffing and puffing and his singing is even less intelligible than usual.

The Rolling Stones are old....and that's a crime....if you liked them before you'll like them in this film......frankly I've never seen them so earnest and committed to performing as in this film.....never been much of a stones fan but I have to hand it to Mick....he takes this shit seriously.....and is in ridiculously good shape for his age.....filmed at NYC Beacon theater which is a much, much more intimate setting than the Stones are used to.

I thought "Gimme Shelter" was not played at the shows filmed for this movie.

Memo From Turner was used for a split second in Goodfellas and I am completely obsessed with this song. Should I order Performance off Amazon, Paul?

Great director Nicolas Roeg.....also a mobster movie but set in the swinging sixties of London....Mick Jagger in his prime.
a fantastic time capsule.....I say get it.
