I've been a Dan Simmons fan ever since I read Hyperion back in '91. I've always thought it would make a good film (or films) if very little is cut or rearranged. There have been rumblings for at least a decade about movies being made but no ink has been put to paper. Until now.

The brief lift in spirits I experienced when reading the headline was quickly dashed on the rocks of despair as got down to the article. Apparently the factor that sold Warner on the movie was Trevor Sands' plan to merge the first two Hyperion books into one movie. I'm sorry, that's just a fucktard of an idea. Trevor Sands, who has done almost nothing aside from an 8 minute short in 2002, plans boil more than a thousand pages down into two hours of drivel for the masses.
Warner, you blew it.
