I fell in love with Elvis Costello the moment I heard "Alison" for the first time. Everything else was just gravy from there on in...and it's some damn good gravy!

Sheepy-Get "Girls, Girls, Girls". It's a double CD collection of songs. Thankfully not called a greatest hits album. It came out in 89 on Columbia. It's good to have for a sample of his stuff over the years (up til 89 anyway) if you don't have anything else.

Costello is genius! My very
favorite lyric of his (which I
have quoted quite often!) is
from his album Punch the Clock:
"I wish you luck with a
capital 'F'"

Sheep, sorry if I'm off by a little, but Radio Radio's lyrics are more anti-radio and nbc wasn't happy with the idea of someone saying things against their interests.

Elvis costello is brilliant, but for some reason, I'm not as anxious to get his newer works.

i love elvis costello! he's such a great songwriter. he channels his anger and distaste for what's around him into beautiful music.
one of the true underappreciated musical geniuses.
"and the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools tryin to anaesthetize the way that you feel." sounds like NBC to me

It's funny GVAC mentioned hearing
...ok, this posts getting cut off thing is getting really annoying!
anyway, what I had written was that it was funny that GVAC mentioned hearing 'Alison' on the radio, cause when R&F played it the other night, I was suddenly struck by how good it was. I mean, I had probably heard it before, but somehow it just connected at that moment. As soon as the show was over I ran out and bought 'My Aim Is True' and have been addicted since then. I think 'Alison''s been stuck in my head for a week!
I bought 'This Year's Model' as well. It's great stuff. Looks like my CD collection is about to get a lot bigger.

Heckler were those the shows on broadway, the ones with the 5 different nights. One night he played with his regular band, then with the jordanairres ?, then he had the wheel of music where they spun the wheel to decide the next song.
I was in borders and they just re-released "This years model" and it has 2 disks.
As a side note I just got the who's "Who's next" album it also has some great extras.
We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

Wow.....I thought I was the only Elvis Costello freak around, other than the few hundred fans there at CW Post a few years ago when he played with only Steve Nieve on keyboards......ABSOLUTELY one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time, on the level of Lennon & McCartney. I have lived by almost everything he has done, ESPECIALLY his recent works.

E.C is one of the best of all time.
From My Aim Is True, This Years Model, fucking ARMED FORCES!! to lesser known works like IMPERIAL BEDROOM. PUNCH THE CLOCK. BRUTAL YOUTH.
Pick up the latest WHEN I WAS CRUEL! It features two ex-attractions!
I saw them twice at the Beacon recently and HE IS STILL THE KING!!
