View Full Version : Whatever Happened To War Toys?

I saw a kid today playing with a pink gun that launched little parachutes, and that sickened me. Whatever happened to authentic looking war toys: assault weapons, tommy guns, missile launchers, M-16's and rubber bayonets? Sure, here in NYC many toy guns were banned because they looked too real, but let's face it, war toys were as American as Apple pie, and kids playing with pink guns will lead us to a future generation of sissyboys.

Is that what happened to you?
If cops can mistake a wallet for a gun, I think we should stick to the bright neon colored guns.
We should chuck these little pink gun playing fairies into quicksand, along with their homo-erotic toys.
I mean really...a pink gun?

in a world that we live in today, you cant even get on an airplane with a nipple ring and you want to play with fake grenades?
the world sucks now.
people take shit way too seriously
people get offended by jokes
kids cant even play tackle football, tag etc.
you show me a fake gun and i'll show you a Mothers against having fun organization that will rape your ass alive for having it. sucks i know.

We've evolved to video games. We can now kill thousands of Nazis single-handedly, so take THAT, with your lame-ass "plastic guns."

you just reminded me of the little toy soldiers with the plastic parachutes you could buy at the local candystore or drugstore. they were cool because you could set them on fire, cut their heads off, or even stick them in your rectum
miss them little badboys

First they took away comedy duos and I said nothing. Then they took away realistic-lookingt toy weapons and I said nothing...

Remember the old days when people used to say something?
Man, those were the days.

What always bothered me about the neon colored toy guns is what is stopping someone from painting their real guns those colors?
Might cause some additional problems for our men in blue.

It's called paint.
I got an orange Han Solo blaster. 2 dollars worth of model paint and it was back to Episode IV style.

I once tried to escape jail by carving a bar of soap into a gun, then covering it with black shoe polish

Realistic guns have been abandoned due to an overly PC culture and the danger they posses for being TOO realistic. Not just kids getting shot by cops, but 'criminals' using fake guns to hold up stores, mugging people, robbing banks, etc.
Since kids are pretending anyway, making toy guns a obvious, bright color is erring on the side of safety. Tenbats brought up a valid point - if you want a realistic gun you can easily modify it with a little paint.

what ever happened to writing things on paper?
why do we post on message-boards, why can't we just put personal ads in the newspaper if we want to talk to each-other?
and for that matter, why do we have to use modern medicine?
back in the old days, an amputation, or a blood-letting took care of the problem.

Hah, I'll say..
I can remember running around with my dad's old Korean War stuff carrying decomissioned hand grenades and carrying an MP40 killin' 'japs'.
Although, kids nowadays play airsoft, and some of that stuff is amazingly detailed.

Oh, and if you did not have your own cool gun, you had to lay the pogostick on the wall and man the 'heavy machinegun'..

MobCounty's right. A lot of the Airsoft guns look real and welt playmates beautifully. I got two mini's in a suitcase from a flea market on vacation, then had to FedEx them to myself because I couldn't take them through the airport.

I had a giant popcorn tin/drum filled with blue and red plastic army men. No idea why those colors and not green, but they fought the shit out of each other.

and another truth is, a lot of kids still play 'guns' in the form of airsoft or paintball, it just takes a bit to afford the guns and ammo so I think they end up being closer to teenagers by that time.

I had something called the Micronauts Battle Cruiser...or the like...it shot lil torpedoes like the old Battlestar toys..and had twin wings that doubled as guns that shot a dart like the suction cup guns of yore..but had the equivalent of a gum rubber punching glove on the end...I tagged my sister in the ear..and that was the end of those great wings for ever...

My dad had a kick ass woodworking shop. We'd steal 2x4's from home building sites and make our own toy guns. Nothing beats an unlimited supply of weaponry. After all... It's how we won WWII!

The sub compact version was made with a rubber band between a couple fingers and half of a paperclip pulled back like a sling shot.

Looks to me like the terrorists have won.........
We used to have arsenals of toys in our toyboxes.
Do kids still have cap guns, by the way?
Remember smacking a coil of caps with a hammer?
