QFT - this was the first thing to come to my mind.

I also agree with Penn and Teller. I was watching them yesterday being "interviewed" on the show Free Radio on VH1 and realized who hysterical Teller is. He's not saying anything, but his face is totally "on" and he's really participating in the conversation. He's a great example of a modern clown. Also when the annoying host asked him the obvious question about doesn't he ever talk he said "fuck" but it got bleeped so the people in the studio heard it but nobody in the listening audience heard Teller talk. Very amusing.

I'm a thirty-something wise ass, and I submit that my recommendation of David Cross and Bob Odenkirk is a good one. They do solo stuff as well, but they are a great comedy duo. In stand up, as well as off the stage.

And to be fair, you didn't list stand-up as a requirement. Abbott and Costello as well as Martin and Lewis did a ton of movie and television work. So I assumed you just meant a pair of people working together in a comedic setting.

The Chocolate Blackout Cake was unbelievable, by the way.

Yes, I was talking about stand up, and yes, most of the famous teams did tv and movies. But when was the last time a comedy team played Carolines? That's what I'm talking about. Now, seriously: did you really make the cake?

I think it's okay to talk about "old school" things and bring up how they've evolved. I don't think these acts have disappeared, but have been brought up to date to take advantage of the available media. If duos like R&F kept their show in comedy clubs we probably wouldn't all be here today talking about them.

I don't think it's right to call someone a wise-ass because they didn't live through an era. Just sayin'...

I see a lot of duos doing standup. Even back in the day, you had a lot more solo comedians than duos, unless you're going all the way back to vaudeville. I think you just had more famous duos in your time than now.

In stand-up, there may be fewer comedy teams because, at least, in the b-level clubs I work in, the headliner money is the same, no matter how many people are involved...

But in film and television, there are some great comedy duos happening in the Yew Kay and New Zealand:

I'm not trying to start anything with you Blowhard, I know you're quick witted and very sharp..I also know you have a sense of what's light hearted amusement and what's an attack..The 20 somethings are not the enemy.. It's important that you remember you were not born 45 years old either, brother.. You yourself were once a 20 something and I'm certian you had words of relevance to bring to a conversation..In my opinion throwing your weight around and alienating a board member based on age alone, without even taking race or sexual preference into consideration is completely out of order..Perhaps you should re-familiarize yourself with the rules engagement..Age alone does not qualify for for a windbag to blow his death breath all over him..

Ladies and Gentlemen, this next act comes out of New York on a rocket ship. They recently stole the show at the Newark Comedy Festival with their innovative throw back act, and they appear at clubs and colleges across the country.

Look, if I really started "throwing my weight around", I would knock the world off it's axis, okay? This is all in good fun, so lighten up. Hell, I wish I was 20 again. I drove a Stutz Bearcat and invented the cheer "boola boola" at football games. And that's "Mr. Windbag" to you, fella.

I was just thinking about this last night. I watched Trading Places for the first time in ages and, when the first scene came on with Al Franken, I saw the guy with him, I thought "Damn... I forgot about that guy!" There was a time, when you only heard the name Al Franken associated with "Franken and Davis".

Cannons to the left of me
Cannons to the right of me

Then I walked step by step

(I think this was from some Abbott and Costello bit from the Foreign Legion or something)

GREAT combination of references in this statement!!!

Charge of the Light Brigade

Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismayed?
Not tho' the soldiers knew
Someone had blundered:
Theirs was not to make reply,
Theirs was not to reason why,
Theirs was but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

Cannon to the right of them,
Cannon to the left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell,
Rode the six hundred.

Flashed all their sabres bare,
Flashed as they turned in air,
Sab'ring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wondered:
Plunging in the battery smoke,
Right through the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reeled from the sabre-stroke
Shattered and sundered.
Then they rode back, but not--
Not the six hundred.

Cannon to the right of them,
Cannon to the left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that fought so well,
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of the six hundred.

When can their glory fade?
Oh, the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made!
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble Six Hundred!

Alfred Lord Tennyson
