Think about it: when was the last time you saw quicksand in a movie or tv show? From Tarzan movies to horror flicks, quicksand was everywhere back in the day, now you never see it. What the heck happened to quicksand?

nowadays, all of the mom-n-pop quicksand has been replaced by corporate, $20-a-gallon, gourmet quicksand.

Is there no end to the things that people can have fetishes about? This guy mentions the "quicksand community" in the description for this video.

Those awful mummy movies are keepin it goin.

And I heard the director's cut of There Will be Blood has an alternate ending with Daniel Plainview succumbing to quicksand when attempting to drink someone's milkshake.

Quicksand is no longer believable in movies. The 2 biggest reasons it isn't used is because the rapid demise of the rainforests has made vines pricey commodity. Secondly, we've learned that staying calm and moving slowly in quicksand would keep us afloat long enough to reach solid ground.

We are just a smarter generation than those who have come before us, this is why we need our movies to be more realistic. This is also why we buy corporate.

That made me so extremely uncomfortable I had to turn it off after she pulled her hands back out. I have the creepy crawlies. I always had a huge fear of quicksand ever since that horse got pulled down in the Neverending Story. I can NOT watch that movie because of it.

Listen, you wisenheimer! If I ever see you sinking in quicksand I'm tossing you a cinderblock. How do you like them apples? I'm gonna enjoy watching that last breath when your head sinks and that giant air bubble appears.

And yes, Foghat, I've been here on the board since 2001. I put this place on the map, and I'm still waiting for my Hall of Fame statue from Mikeyboy.

And what about soufflé humor. That doesn't exist anymore, either.

And what about the funny drunk? The Otis'es, the Foster Brooks?

I actually saw someone with one of those drunks hanging on to a lampposts in front of their home the other day. Looked like it had been there since 1963.

They use it quite frequently in "According to Jim".
