However, lately, especially today, Ive read some really negative shit aimed at members here based solely on their outward appearance.

I am sure that the subjects of these attacks, myself included, can handle the ribbing, to a point. But I'm just concerned that our lack of social grace may reflect poorly on the board as a whole.

Yeah, I'm bald, others are overweight or have unusual features; these are the facts and they are undisputed. But to use them as a tool of insult, especially as a means to win a particular argument, or just to be mean, in my mind cheapens the general community feeling here at RonFez.net.

Where does it stop? Deaf members? Blind members? African-American or Asian members? Members who have lost limbs in the war?

Again, we veterans can probably handle the jokes, but visitors and newbies looking in may think that's how we do business here. Is that really the image we want to convey?

I think, for the most part, if it doesn't involve the Lizard King, we're civil and cool to each other. I think our mods do a good job of keeping us in check as well, because sometimes a comment can get out of hand. I would have stopped coming here long ago if people made fun of my manly physique.

These thing run their course. The jokes are all the same about hippos weight and to my assessment are meant in jest. Hell if a guy choses his board name as Hippo, fat jokes would follow in a lighthearted sentiment. King Hippo has a good sense of humor about himself and I doubt he takes this personally. If he is offended then he deserves an apology.

Then someone doesnt like something someone had to say, so that person's pic is put up to ridicule, I thought it was another bald incident...but no; its because he has a larger nose than some of us!

Look, the 3 "victims" here are not actually victims, they are people who seem secure in their appearance, and are happy to participate, as far as I know.

I'm just saying when I read this shit, it makes me uncomfortable because of the morals, or lack thereof, such behavior represents.

Do you know what the most depressing thing about this thread is? To me, at least?

I've been at a loss to why Gvac has gone balls-to-the-wall against me in the past few months. We have been ultra civil to each other at events.

He PM'ed me about his feelings being hurt about me tossing aroung age jokes, so I stopped.

And even when he's NOT involved, if I'm making a point, he comes in and starts slamming me. Repeatedly.

It gets annoying.

So I saw a gif in my travels on the net, and I said, "Hey, you know what? Gvac would like that." And I was gonna post it as a "Mea Culpa" thread, similar to the Snoogans thread I posted a while ago (proving to Epo that I do, in fact, apologize when I'm wrong.)
