Jingo, I don't think you can get Ron & Fez on Xm radio because it broadcasts from a different signal than FM radio.

don't have it, don't plan on getting it anytime soon.
it costs a minimum of 3 hundred to convert your old radio, plus installation and additional stations costs more, i believe there is a monthly fee as well.

My Dad works for a company owned by Lucent that is going to release the competition for XM...The company is called Sirius. Should be out in February...
But my suggestion to you guys is to wait a while before you get one...They are starting off putting them in Luxury cars as an option.
They are not going to have any syndicated programing on at first...And it is comercial free...SO NO ANNOYING "IF I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS" songs will be heard...
Just music or talk or whatever you want to listen to...
If you are old enough to remember this is the way that cable tv started out...A COMMERCIAL FREE environment to watch tv. So it might be worth it just to pay the 10 dollar a month fee to get rid of Lisa Orban's aweful copy! So give it a few years...We'll see if it is really worth it.

POWER AND CHAOS
Sattilite Radio will be the future of radio, but it's a ways off. I too suggest you wait because who knows which will be the eventual standard, XM or Sirus. If you're a truckdriver, then maybe it's a good idea, but if you live in the NYC area, it doesnt have anything that's not on the free airwaves. Just more of the crap.

It seems to me, the only true advantages are the commercial free enviroment, and no need to retune stations as you drive long distances. Is this second point even important to anyone on the message board? How often do we drive outside of the NYC broadcasting radius?

My family got DirecTV when it first came out and there were a lot of problems. (loss of signal when there is snow, inability to tape programs on different channels, you could only get it on one TV in the house, high price, etc)
It used to be like DVD, only the cool people had it. Then many places from bars to hotels got it. Now every fith house has it and now cable is making their own digital service.
It could work if its at a low price and there are no signal problems.
I won't get it anytime soon. It would make sense to have it in a older car, plus I only really drive on the weekends. I guess if you commute a lot it will be worth it.

Doesn't really pertain to me at all anyway. I'll be hooked through SU for the next 2 and a half years anyway. By that time, who's knows what will be the standard in radio.
