The bright paints were meant to help rescue workers and range masters locate guns more easily - not fool cops, Johnson said.
They had a legitimate reason in other parts of the country and they're illegal in NYC. Bloomberg singled them out, so they made fun of him and got some free publicity. I don't think there's too much the Mayor can do about it.

Any self respecting Metrosexual wouldn't be caught dead without one of these.
And matching shoes.

Well, part of the kit is a stencil of Bloomberg. They are using his likeness on a product they sell. It doesn't sound legal to me either.

even if they were just using his name i'd think he could sue (but i'm no lawyer).

He can, you can sue anyone for anything. But he'd be wasting his time.
Guiliani went through the same thing when he was mayor. Someone used his name and likeness in a subway ad in a negative way. He sued, and the case was thrown out of court. As a public figure he has very little recourse. If you can't use the mayor's name for a commercial purpose, you couldn't print a newspaper.

obviously i meant a legit lawsuit with a chance of winning. no need to be a jerk aboot it.
newspapers are obviously different than naming a product after someone. try coming out with a julia roberts line of dresses and see what happens.
