except thats not even close to what happened. Rays are in the ocean, you were on the ocean in a way you werent intended to be by nature. If the lady was layin on a beach and it jumped out onto her, then you may have a case

Snoogans is right. That's why I stay out of or off of the ocean, or really any body of water. That's not our place, and anything bad that happens is because on the chart of dominance of the waer, humans are waaaaaaaaaaaaay the fuck down. Some shit bad happens to you out at sea, that's on YOU. Fuck water. I drink it and then pee it out in spite.

Have to agree with Mojo here. If you go out into the water, or into any area where wildlife resides, you have to go with the understanding that ANYTHING can happen. You are in their territory. If this stingray was trying to escape from a predator, and leaped from the water, it isn't HIS fault that some human was standing in the way. He was just trying to survive.

I swam with the stingray once. They were very beautiful but it filled me with uneasiness. Not because I was afraid they would turn, but because I felt like I shouldn't be there. An intruder.

It gets weirder. I heard on the ABC radio news, the woman wasn't stung, it was probably the blow from the thing hitting her that did it. It's like a 75 pound piece of concrete hitting you.

Boy, when it's your time to go, it's your time to go.

Wouldn't that basically be anywhere? The bears were here before us.

And didn't they pass a law letting people shoot bears in NJ a couple of years ago because they were attacking people in towns?

This thing was a leopard ray. They weigh up to 500 lbs. They jump out of the water to get rid of parasites and predators. It wasn't attacking and it didnt sting the lady to death.

They probably had the boat throttled out and a 500lbs wall of brick hit the lady and the impact killed them both.

You guys are some nature hating, speculating suns-a-bitches, and you make me laff and laff.

There was so much speculation on this at first, I gave out bum info. It was actually an Eagle Ray (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_eagle_ray), they can get up to 500 lbs (or as little as 75 ).

and for the record there is only one Sugar Ray...

In the artilce I read it mentioned that a few years ago a guy was on his boat and one of these things jumped into the boat and actually did hit him with it's barb.

The guy had to have surgery to have a 12" barb removed from his heart.

I think the guy was an old timer like 82 or something.
