Earlier today, the World Wrestling Federation released the following talents: Kwee-Wee, Lash LaRoux, Russ McCullough, Reno, Kid Romeo, Elix Skipper and Jimmy Yang.
"We are encouraging each of these men to continue to improve, as they all seem to be outstanding individuals with strong desires to make it in sports-entertainment," said Jim Ross, senior vice president of talent relations. "We look forward to doing business with each and every one of them in the future and wish them nothing but the best of luck."
The World Wrestling Federation has also released Essa Rios and is in the process of reassigning road agent Ricky Santana, who may be considered for a role within the Federation's international department in the future. WWF.com

Damn. They released these people, but somehow overlooked Billy Gunn. They stopped too soon.

Yes, that's right, release all of the good young WCW talent, and refuse to cut wastes like Big Show, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac.
There is no justice.
Here's hoping every one of those young men heads over to the XWF.

I am one of the few people that like X-Pac, as long as he is used properly. He was putting on good matches right before he got injured. Big Show is buddies with Shane, so he is not going anywhere.

Brawler is a road agent and only wrestles once in a while.

Isn't Brawler Patterson's boyfriend as well? I know that Lombardi is gay (not that there's anything wrong with that... but I always thought his job was protected via his relationship with Patterson.)
Then again, I distinctly remember Ross saying that Patterson's longtime companion had died on an episode of Raw a while back.

Earlier today, the World Wrestling Federation released the following talents: Kwee-Wee, Lash LaRoux, Russ McCullough, Reno, Kid Romeo, Elix Skipper and Jimmy Yang.
OK these are great up and coming young talent.
**Kwee Wee aka The Mango of WCW aka Allan Funk is a great athlete but that horrible gimmick screwed his career and it looks as those it won't continue with the WWF.
**Lash LeRoux, the Ragin Cagin, another young talent not given a chance.
**Russ McCollough, an OVW star that looks like Diesel but with a more Southern flavor and more wrestling ability. Not given a chance.
**Reno aka the Tazz, Saturn wannabe shoot fighter. Great pitfighter look and could have been huge. His finisher the "Roll the Dice" is one of the best I'm seen in a while. He could have been a tremendous Hardcore brawler and technician but didn't get the nod to be on the big show. DAMMIT! That was the guy I wanted to face Tazz one of these days!
**Kid Romeo aka The Ricky Martin of WCW and Elix Skipper the wannabe Road Dogg of WCW were a solid former WCW Tag Champions but again not given a chance because the WWF doesn't like small guys except Crash, Spike and Tazz.
** Jimmy Yang with his finisher Yang Time has to be one of the better finishers in wrestling along with his tiger wall back flip and Liu Yang punches could have been somewhat entertaining but the WWF again shuns the size although he is 5'11 but a cruiserweight by definition.
The World Wrestling Federation has also released Essa RiosNow another talented person aka Aguila in his earlier days in the WWF but they won't give him a chance or is it because he doesn't speak English and cut a promo?!? How did Funaki, Yoshihiro Tajiri (for the most part) and Taka get over? Cheapy catchphrase and a good woman like Torrie perhaps?
I wonder where Kaz Hayashi, Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias aka 2/3rds of 3 Count will fit into the equation or in reality in the WWF Lottery in January.
Great sig once again WWFallon. Gotta love Steph as the center WHOO-HA! NICE!

I really feel bad about all the X-Pac banishing he gets. I thought it was funny back in the day with the "X-PAC SUX" chants but this is really getting ridiculous. He doesn't stink and is a great competitor if given the ball and could run with it. Getting stuck in a program with TBS won't help either.
If Vince wants to do something good he should bring back some of the cruiserwights and give the division some light for once. It was successful in WCW but in the land of the Giants known as the WWF it isn't a welcome addition.
And to that I say... WASSUPWITDAT?

No, it isn't. The office doesn't like cruiserweight matches, nor do I. I am glad they don't shove lightheavyweights down our throats like WCW did. It is just boring. The only time I even liked watching "cruiserweights" in WCW is when guys like Malenko and Benoit were going for real titles. Malenko winning the U.S. was cool, but then he lost it and got sent right back down to boring matches with useless lumps like Juventud and Psychosis.

My understanding was always that X-Pac didn't want to have anything to do with a lightweight/cruiserweight division, which is why the smarts that once liked him for his ability, started hating him for his attitude, (or they just realized all he did was kick...)
Had x-pac stayed, and lent some creedence to the cruiserweight division, we may have gotten some more airtime for Dean Malenko, Esse Rios, Funaki, Jerry Lynn, and other talent that WWF was wasting since pre-alliance days.
Would the fans have been into it? hard to say, but xpac would have given them a face (or heel, for that matter :-) ) they could recognize, and build some storylines off of.

Evan Karagias's name has been added to the WWF website's story on developmental talent that was released this past Wednesday. The website did not add a second story about Evan's release, they just simply added his name to the already posted report.
Former soap opera star and great athlete is another one to get tossed to the curb! He had a look but I guess they wanted to make room.
I expect Kaz and Shannon next on the chopping block.

Here's my take on the situation:
Alan "Kwee Wee" Funk - BIG mistake letting him go. The guy's talented, and he has a LOT of heart. He's someone they could have really done something with in the future.
Lash should have been kept too. He's been improving steadily.
Reno - I don't know about him. They could have maybe done some hardcore stuff with him, but he was awful green.
Kid Romeo - good lightheavy, but nothing really to distinguish him from the rest of the pack.
Elix Skipper / Jimmy Yang - MISTAKES again. Both are very talented guys, but of course, the Vince is homo for the big boys, despite the fact that lightheavies routinely put on BETTER matches than a lot of the heavies we see nowadays *coughcoughundertakercoughcough*.
Russ McCullough - never seen him, can't comment.
Essa Rios - talented guy, but he can't speak English. I don't really think he should have been let go.
Basically, all of this was done just to further kill off anything even remotely resembling WCW.
And more bad news for the WCW guys is that Mike Sanders may be called up....as a gay character. Mike, if you're reading this, go ahead and quit while you can, before they can destroy your career too.
I am glad they don't shove lightheavyweights down our throats like WCW did. It is just boring.
I don't really believe that's a majority opinion. A cruizerweight division could and probably would sell, if done right, but the WWF has never been able to do that (they gave us some awesome TAKA matches, including some classics against the Great Sasuke, and then soon afterwards handed the title to the joke that was Gillberg). Next time you see Big Show lumbering around the ring, remember that you could have had that same time to see a couple of talented young guys bounce around the ring like crazy, putting on an acrobatic show for you, but instead you're seeing a fat SOB who's only being kept around because they want to get some use out of his stupid multimillion dollar contract.
As for X-Pac, people hate him because he's a prick, and unlike guys like Michaels or HHH, he's not talented enough to pull himself above that. Anyone see his Heat interview the other day? He compared himself to the Undertaker, for God's sake, and while I can't stand UT these days anyway, Calloway has done more to change and revolutionize this business than X-Pac could ever hope to do if he wrestled until he was 184 years old.
