This legislation will block New Yorkers from accessing Internet poker sites
Dear Jeffrey,
Poker needs your help! On Tuesday, March 11th the New York State Senate Codes Committee approved legislation (S.66) which will force Internet Service Providers like AOL, Google and MSN to block their customers from accessing lawful Internet poker Web sites and other gaming on the Internet. This Bill can be voted on by the full State Senate as early as Monday, March 17th!
This is a direct assault by the New York State Senate to censure your rights to access the Internet to play poker or similar games in the comfort and security of your own home.
Please call Sen. Owen H. Johnson at (518) 455-3411 if you haven't already.
Tell them:
* I am voter in your district and a poker player
* I strongly oppose S.66 because it restricts the free flow of information and services over the Internet
* New York should not follow the example of repressive countries that censor the activities of their citizens on the Internet.
* Please vote NO on S.66
With your help we can stop this outrageous bill. Please call your Senator TODAY!
After your call, tell us how it went by clicking here.

I am disgusted I live in a country where online gambling is a crime. Give me a fucking break. I can do it within the confines of a casino, but not in the privacy of my own home?

In-fucking-sane. Bastard can't get a piece of the pie, so they make it illegal. How is online poker any worse than the 5 Czech dudes I see in the deli near my mom's house who sit there playing Quick Draw and scratch off's all day, every day. OH!!! The governement gets a cut of that! I forgot!
Next they'll come for the porn.

take note of every person that votes upon this and make it public knowledge that they do not want you to play poker in the safety of your own home.
im sure a good PR campaign can change this...

This is ridiculous. Didn't the first act make it difficult enough to play? Thanks for lowering my hands per hour and eliminating my ability to play 4 tables at once, and oh yeah paying a rake to a casino. I like being inefficient.

but at the same time, how does this law stop me from opening up my Full Tilt Application and signing on?
I dont use AOL or Google to access that.

You can thank you're outgoing governor for this one. He rallied against it as AG, and pushed for the law as governor. Even as he leaves office, he knows how to be a fun-killing douche.
At least for everyone else.

You two guys should realy get a room for this..It could get very sticky very fast..But on a less, tension filled homosexual note..It's my guess that the government just wants people to get out and gamble..You know,"lose your ass while you lose your ass.." The good news is, everyone is invited to my house for a REAL poker game..But Blowhard has to wear a bullet proff vest, because I'm afraid my house won't make a very good crime scene..

they're doing this as a first step to protecting the blackjack players who think other players' actions affect their own results in the long run.
