Anyone in Florida is in for a treat tonight. The launch is at 2:00 am and if you have never seen the night launch; please just walk outside and look East. I've seen it as far away as Fort Myers, but we are going over tonight to the Space Coast.

Oh...and I think it's the, 'Space Shuttle Endeavour.'

Meanwhile, I'm watching I Dream Of Jeanie til 2am.

I saw Atlantis launch at night in 1985. I didn't even know it was going to happen. I was about 50 miles out of Orlando during a road trip, and while I waited in the car at a pit stop, my buddies yelled for me. I got out of the car to see what was up, and damn... There it was, flaming through the night sky. A very impressive sight!

I remember doing this as a kid. Well, actually, I think we'd go to bed, then be woken up to do this. Late at night, gathering around the TV to watch some rocket take off.

I was never too impressed by it back then, just always happy to be up so late, like a grown up.

Perhaps I'm dating myself, but it was that big a deal back then that parents would wake up their kids to see it. I kinda wish it was still that big a deal.

my mom would let me stay home if there was a day launch. We'd make snacks and watch it together. It was always a big deal because my parents knew how much I loved astronomy.

This past year I found my old telescope.... a big one on a tripod.... dating back to like '84 and I gave it to my cousin's kids. They LOVE looking out at the starts . Passing on the tradition!

Here's the Crew:

http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/215867main_123_crew_690.jpg

and their mission:

NASA astronaut Dominic Gorie commands a crew of six, including Pilot Gregory H. Johnson and Mission Specialists Rick Linnehan, Robert L. Behnken, Mike Foreman, Garrett Reisman and Japanese astronaut Takao Doi. Johnson, Behnken and Foreman will be making their first spaceflight.

During the 16-day mission, the crew's two prime objectives are to deliver and attach to the International Space Station the first component of Japan's new laboratory called Kibo, as well as Canada's new robotics system, the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator, or Dextre. STS-123 is the 25th shuttle mission to the International Space Station.

Expedition 16 Flight Engineer Leopold Eyharts, who arrived at the station aboard Atlantis in February, will return to Earth with the Endeavour crew as Reisman takes his place on the station.

You know, TeeBone, a real man wouldn't be caught dead whining about how he didn't know how to do something. He'd just sit down and figure out HOW. It's just another example of the pussification of America.

So why don't you slip into your favorite housecoat and fuzzy slippers, fix yourself an international coffee, push a couple of buttons and post those pictures, Nancy!
