Anyone pick this one up yet? I grabbed it this afternoon but haven't even opened it yet. Incidentally, if you pick it up from Toys R Us this week, you can get either the game guide or a game from a select list (Mario & Sonic Olympics, MySims, Rayman Rabbids 2, Spiderwick Chronicles, Zack & Wicky, and a few others) for 50% off. Online capability is a plus given that earlier Smash Bros. games were most fun to play against non-CPU opponents.

I picked up Smash Bros today, but I left my Wii elsewhere so my nephew could play it. I'll be able to play it tomorrow.
Fun as always. My first priority is to unlock Sonic. Unfortunately he's the hardest character to unlock.
Ordered it from walmart.com with the $10 gift card they gave me for the price mess up. I will have it soon.

Do you need the nunchuck to play the game, or just the Wiimote?

You can play with just the wiimote, with the wiimote and nunchuk, the classic controller, or the gamecube controller. I tried the wiimote alone and the wiimote and nunchuk last night. Wiimote alone is a pain in the ass because I kept hitting the block when I didn't want to. In my opinion, the wiimote and nunchuk is a much better setup.

Talk about hanging on for dear life...
Sheesh.

If you have a gamecube controller use it. It's much better.

I played a bunch of the events last night. so far so good entertaining but ultimately an incrimental upgrade so far.
and I use the nunchuk and wiimote. I was surprised by the lack of motion based controls.

Neither. it's a fighting game. A very unique fighting game but a fighting game.

BTW, I'd just like to say that saving for a house + paying off debt SUCKS. I saw a lonely Wii in target yesterday and I almost bought it until I remembered and I walked away.
I want a wii. boooooooooo.

I still haven't put in much time, but I am enjoying it. If you have any familiarity with the earlier Smash Bros. games and have enjoyed them, you'll like this a lot. The basic premise, if you aren't familiar, is it's a whole bunch of characters from Nintendo games, including the obvious (Mario, Donkey Kong, Link from Zelda, Samus from Metroid, Pokemon Trainer, etc.), the old school (ice climbers), the somewhat obscure (Lucas and Ness from Earthbound), and Sonic the Hedgehog, battling against each other (up to 4 at a time) in Nintendo game environments.
The fighting is pretty simple in that you don't have to worry about complicated button combos, but each character has its individual attacks. It's pretty fast game, and the strength has always been the multiplayer. Luckily, there's online play now so you can always find opponents.
There's also an adventure mode where you battle through different levels to reach some goal or other. The adventure mode seems much deeper than the one in the last version of the game if I recall correctly.
It's pretty fun so far, but if a fighting game doesn't appeal to you, you might not like it that much. It got great reviews on the gaming sites (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928518.asp), but you may want to read a few reviews before you decide if it's for you.

By getting married to a girl who wakes up at 7 in the morning on release day to be the first person to go into Target to get the game.
Anywho, this game is pretty decent, it's like the old one except with more stuff. We haven't even bothered with the Wiimote controls, two Wavebirds plugged into the Wii make it just like the old ones, it's great.
I'll post my code tonight and add the others from this thread, but the Wii Online play sucks so hard that there really is no point.

beat all 20 events and almost 2 hours into subspace emmissary mode and gotta say it adds a lot to the game and is a lot of fun to the game.

The game is actually pretty fun and they beefed up the cpu a lil bit

but in order to do that, he has to give you a code that implies the two of you are friends. We know that won't happen.
Loving this game...beat Subspace Emissary, and am working on unlocking things.
Random online play is good, but sometimes spotty...since it connects with people from all over, apparently depending on where your opponents are, the game can get messed up. I've had some just freeze on me...and some run flawlessly.
It's really unpredictable.
The friend play works well, though.

I think the online is horrible. I've tried to play random at least 20 times and have successfully started a match a grand total of two times.

Hmmm...I've had more success with it...generally, it's taken a few minutes to get players logged in and started...a few times the WiiConnect24 has booted me, and then a few times the game will start, then run really slowly because of one of the connections and altogether freeze.
But for the most part, it seems to work for me.
Hopefully they'll come out with some software improvement updates to make it run smoother.

The thing is, Real Life Matty and Real Life Mikey get along. Rf.net Matty and Rf.net Mikey don't. It's a damnable thing, this technology.

The Maze is like half the game. As was really impressed at how good the Subspace Emissary is, considering it's basically an add on to the crux of the game, which is the brawls.
I think it's safe to say that no third party developer has come close to tapping the power of the Wii like Nintendo has when you look at games like this and Super Mario Galaxy.
