I recently bought a new laptop. Sony Vaio VGN-N365E. It came with Vista, I reformatted and installed XP. Even though Sony does not offer support for drivers for XP, I pieced them together through various other websites. I could not find a touchpad driver, however, but it is working without the drivers since it was automatically detected. I wish it hadn't worked to begin with, every time I'm typing my dumb fat thumbs keep hitting the touchpad and start typing somewhere else.

I can't find it anywhere in device manager to turn it off, and when I uninstall the drivers for it, it just keeps working anyway. The Vista drivers do not work with XP. I've had problems finding the correct drivers before, and getting things to work properly, unreal that I can't get something NOT to work.

You probably did this but...
Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware Tab/Device Manager/Mice&Other.../
Right Click the TouchPad, in the General Tab, Device Usage Drop Down (at the bottom),
Select Do Not Use this Device (disable). hth
