For a while I've been thinking of getting into a doing a locksmithing job as a part time gig.

I initially started thinking about it after I was forced to pay $250 for some guy to come and spend about 3 minutes opening my card door because I locked the keys inside.

I've done some basic searches on the net and only come across some school in Brooklyn that says the course is 900 hours and meets everyday I think.

That seems kinda long as well as inconvenient.

Anybody here do that for a living and/or have any pertinent info ?

Let me know.

Thanks in advance.

On star is more and more available as standard equipment... ..But..The shop here in this town Haleys lock and key make's a lot of money and they keep very busy......If i were younger I would go to dent less repair school..The guy that calls on us makes about 100k a year 7 hours a day M-f....He was taught by the Subaru plant here.... Then he quit and started his own business....about $45 a dent he calls on us 2 days a week and is here all day....By the way the Subaru plant sent him to school ... They make the guy that does that job now sign some kind of contract to keep it from happening again...Good luck Jim

search on youtube, and there are a bunch of videos about how to open the locks. start from there, if you are really interested and find yourself have some talent, then take a formal class.

good luck!
